The Team
This is an exciting time to join The Gates Foundation's Polio team with the 2022-2026 global strategy announcement at the World Health Assembly. The Polio Team works with partners of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) as well as with country governments, donors and other collaborators to build and implement the Polio eradication strategy. We do this by developing relationships and uplifting each other through our journey together. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Strategy & Implementation.
Your Role
You support the development and management of a portfolio of investments including activities associated with the lifecycle of grants and contracts in support of programmatic, strategic goals. You provide transactional support for budget planning and financial reporting in support of investment management. You also support internal and external processes and systems to inform sound decision making, while also working collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders such as grantees.
What You'll Do
- Work closely with investment makers to develop, manage, and maintain a portfolio of investments.
- Develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the investment lifecycle.
- Perform initial investment due diligence, collect portfolio data, identify trends, manage timelines, and communicate issues when needed.
- Act as a subject matter expert on investment tools, systems, and templates and provide training and coaching to program team and external partners when needed.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external processes throughout the investment lifecycle.
- Support data analysis to inform decision-making and shape outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with team on operational plans, annual planning, and forecasting.
- Monitor progress and provide regular updates on financial performance of initiatives and sub-initiatives.
- Provide strategic engagement including content, substantive, and supportive expertise, as well as collaborative leadership and engagement in strategy development.
- Assist in developing deliverables and monitoring status, including document creation, presentation preparation, logistical support, and SharePoint management.
- Coordinate the end-to-end contract and grant processes with internal parties (contracts, grants, and legal business partners) and external parties (vendors and grantees).
- Assist in cascading critical information to teams.
- Coordinate across business teams and facilitate the accountability matrix.
- Engage with and manage external grantee and partner relationships.
- Support inclusive culture through modeling behaviors and actions; raise issues in a timely fashion to appropriate stakeholders
Your Experience
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Broad knowledge of all stages of the investment lifecycle, basic investment rules, mechanisms, regulations, policies, processes, and practices, and can advise when they are applicable.
- Broad knowledge of all aspects of portfolio management.
- Ability to recognize complexity and know when to raise risks or pose alternatives to support sound investments.
- Strong understanding and usage of internal and external processes, systems, and tools.
- Knowledge of financial planning and budgeting, as well as regular portfolio review process.
- Some experience in project management, portfolio management, program management, financial management, financial reporting, non-profit or related industry, and/or business experience.
- Comfortable in a wide range of cultural, geographic and operational settings, demonstrating culturally sensitive behavior with a diverse range of people.
- Willing to take action: Able to work with flexibility, efficiency, and tact in a fast-paced, exciting environment. Open to rapid change and able to learn new things quickly.

We recognize high-wage market differences where our offices are located, in Seattle, and Washington D.CThe range for this role in these locations is $35.01 to $49.00 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission and new hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary range between the minimum and the midpoint salary range. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidate's job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process.
