Job Description

Tomorrow.io’s Space & Sensors team is responsible for the development of radar systems, satellites, and the overall satellite constellation in support of Tomorrow.io’s Operation Tomorrow Space effort. The ultimate goal of Operation Tomorrow Space is to collect and downlink real-time weather data to be integrated seamlessly into Tomorrow.io’s existing forecasting and modeling systems. Global weather coverage will not only revolutionize global weather intelligence, but will also provide lifesaving weather information to 5 billion people across the globe who currently don’t have access to radar coverage.

We are looking for a Program Management Lead who will lead program management within the department. This role spans management of individual programs through program prioritization across a matrixed organization, as well as staff mentorship and guidance. We are launching our first satellites soon, with many future constellation launches planned over the next few years. This position is right for you if you want to work with a world class team who are excited about their mission, see development of programs from proposal through operations, and make a positive impact on the world.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage the overall program portfolio within the department, shaping priorities and driving progress week-to-week;
  • Manage individual program(s) through to completion;
  • Develop and guide a world-class program management team;
  • Operate efficiently across a range of programs complexities/scales and across both commercial and government customers;
  • Interface with customers and potential customers;
  • Work all phases of programs, from initial scoping and proposal through delivery and operations;
  • Develop and negotiate statements of work. Negotiate master services agreements with key vendors.

What you bring:

  • B.S. in Engineering, PMP highly desired
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, which combines both engineering roles and program management roles
  • Direct experience with complex hardware development programs (such as satellites, launch vehicles, or other autonomous vehicles)
  • Experience with multidisciplinary teams and mixing hardware and software development environments
  • Direct experience managing programs with a government customer
  • Experience with vendor management, SOW and MSA negotiations
  • Understanding of spacecraft subsystems and the space environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired:

  • Experience in a startup or small company/team environment
  • Experience with RF payloads, such as communications or radar (antennas and electronics)

This position requires access to technology that is controlled under U.S. export control laws and regulations. Accordingly, this position is restricted to U.S. citizens, permanent residents and protected individuals unless and until any required licenses are obtained.

Anticipated salary range is $180K-$220K, subject to local market and a candidate’s skills and experience.  Health, leave and other benefits included.
