Program Manager

We are seeking an Executive level Program and Project Manager to lead a $100m on-site contract at the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center in Cambridge, Ma.  The Volpe Center, part of the US Department of Transportation, operates in partnership with sponsoring organizations, provides a broad range of technical research, analysis, and communications services to the DOT and other Federal agencies in support of their transportation and logistics-related missions. The Volpe Center is funded directly by sponsoring organizations and, therefore, is responsive to market forces, demanding entrepreneurial initiative to seek out project opportunities and an ability to respond quickly to new and changing sponsor requirements.

The Program Manager is the principle point of contact and shall be responsible for the overall management of the technical and business work performed. The Program Manager shall ensure quality of work and that work is completed on schedule and within the allocated budget. The Program Manager will be responsible for the overall performance of the contract and allocation of resources amongst tasks.

The Program Manager shall have, as a minimum, the following qualifications:

• Master’s degree (or equivalent*) from an accredited school in any business-related subject
• area or a field related to the Statement of Work
• A minimum of 15 years Program Management experience involving transportation systems
• and functions issues and working knowledge of internal organizational management support for various program and project initiatives
• Working knowledge and experience of existing technologies and methodologies that
• address current transportation systems issues, as well as cutting edge technologies and
• methodologies that show promise in transforming the future of the transportation systems
• enterprise
• Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidance
• involving transportation systems and functions issues
