Position Summary :
The Program Manager will report to the Director of Strategic Planning and Enterprise Performance to support the development and progress reporting of the annual JHM priorities. This includes partnering with executive leadership on the identification and prioritization of the initiatives, developing implementation plans to facilitate intentionality of initiatives, identifying KPIs and targets to signal successful achievement of stated initiatives, coordinating and reporting on performance, and fostering a two-way communication channel between entity stakeholders with shared services leadership.
General Responsibilities :
This individual will also partner with the Strategic Planning team to develop and drive a multi-year strategic planning model that promotes transparency and alignment across Johns Hopkins Medicine.
- Responsible for analyzing performance for various processes and outcomes that link and support the prioritized initiatives of the strategic plan. Makes recommendations for how to mitigate barriers.
- Provide staff support in planning and organizing cross-functional units and cross-entity activities, as well as associated teams, work groups and/or committees. Works with a wide-array of functional unit administrators, department leads and senior executives to develop and implement projects.
- Responsible for preparing implementation timelines and plans for projects and/or Strategic Priorities assigned, and the monitoring and progress reporting relative to such plans.
- Synthesizes large amounts of business intelligence and feedback information (both written and oral) to create consistency in messaging, clear 'next-step' expectations, and follow-up action items inventory.
- Utilize / recommend / develop innovative and effective project management tools and methodologies that are easy to understand and create greater project engagement among implementation leaders and respective teams.
- Conduct special projects in support of planning efforts.
- Perform research, data analysis, and interviews as required. Prepares findings and presents to appropriate management groups.
- Develop presentations that effectively communicate strategic initiatives and business plans in a clear and captivating manner.
- Support key leaders in the development of business plans for strategic initiatives.
- Act as a key liaison between clinical leaders, hospital executives, and others, and ensure a tight linkage between the organization's efforts and its strategic goals. Serve as a key champion of the organization's strategic priorities to internal constituents through formal and informal communications.
- Demonstrate strategic thinking and effectiveness by identifying future needs and problem areas, developing workable solutions, and following through to action.
Role-Specific Responsibilities :

- Serve as point of contact for developing and maintaining a JHM Strategic Plan Dashboard
- Updating status of Initiatives
- Tracking progress
- Coordinating follow-up where outstanding updates may exist
- Serve as point of contact for developing and maintaining a JHM Strategic Plan Dashboard
- Project Management
- Conceptualize and communicate scope of large system initiatives to help inform a meaningful project plans. This includes but is not limited to:
- Using a variety of visual aids and communication tools
- Seeking feedback to troubleshoot strategic questions and ensure alignment of goals
- Design and implement meaningful project plans to frame the development of large system initiatives. This includes but is not limited to:
- Identifying appropriate stakeholders/skillsets
- Developing timelines and Gantt charts
- Discreetly identifying combination of tasks that help to achieve the larger initiative
- Coordinating follow-ups where outstanding updates may exist
- Other tasks as needed
- Conceptualize and communicate scope of large system initiatives to help inform a meaningful project plans. This includes but is not limited to:
- Meeting facilitation
- Apply strong intrapersonal skills to facilitate large collaborative meetings.
- Developing power point presentations
- Assuring stakeholder awareness and preparedness
- Take notes at all meetings and circulate meaningful action items to guide next steps.
- Apply strong intrapersonal skills to facilitate large collaborative meetings.
- Strategic Thought Partnership
- Provide active advising on strategic opportunities, planning and alignment, and industry analysis to drive cross-functional execution
- Serve as a partner in developing and stewarding the development of operational and strategic initiatives.

Competencies :
A. Education:
Bachelor's required. Master's in Business, Health Administration or other relevant field is preferred.
B. Knowledge:
Advanced level of expertise in spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, diagramming, and project management software is preferred. Knowledge of finance, operations, logistics, statistical and simulation modeling, administrative theory, process improvement and project management preferred.
C. Skills:
- High level of oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required in order to interface with staff and senior management throughout the organization.
- High level of meeting management, facilitation, organizational and time management skills.
- High level of analytical ability to identify and illustrate relationships among complex activities.
- Ability to define and recommend a course of action based on data.
- Strong collaboration, teambuilding, and consensus building skills required.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback to team members to support continuous improvement.
- High-level problem identification/mitigation/resolution skills.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Ability to adapt and quickly learn other computer applications (Tableau, EPIC, etc) as required.
D. Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.:
None required. Completion or certification of Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma, Lean, or similar training preferred.
E. Work Experience:
Minimum of 5 years' experience (combination education, management training and previous work experience) in: health care, operations, or consulting.
