Objective & Scope
responsible for program management throughout the entire product life cycle (from pre-acquisition through end of production); Providing customer acquisition support for new programs; Leading program-related communications and taking full program management ownership of related activities performed by multi-disciplined cross functional teams.
The Program Manager (PM) is responsible for program management throughout the entire product life cycle (from pre-acquisition through end of production); Providing customer acquisition support for new programs; Leading program-related communications and taking full program management ownership of related activities performed by multi-disciplined cross functional teams.
Primary objectives are to manage timing, quality, and financial results of programs from start to finish, to enthuse the customer with the performance of the product and the services provided, and to deliver business None at this time. results that meet or exceed Magna's expectation for awarded programs.
The individual must possess 5-7 years of program management experience and financial acumen with a verifiable record of results within the automotive industry along with a strong technical background that may include knowledge of powertrain systems & components (including 4WD/AWD, fluid pressure & controls, stampings & castings) and a good understanding of cross-functional responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Primary point of communication interface to the customer for the respective program(s).
  2. Possesses the interpersonal skills to build relationships with key customer contacts responsible for the decision-making process. Actively listens, probes and identifies concerns. Understands customer's business and speaks their language. Develops credibility, loyalty, trust and commitment.
  3. Responsible for leading the preparation and business case review of quotations for customers. Responsible for ensuring quotes target profitable and/or strategic business opportunities and performing contract reviews when awarded.
  4. Cohesively aligns with Global Product Managers, Product Engineering, and Sales by providing customer feedback on products and features as well as competitive information within their respective product group.
  5. Owns program management through complete product life cycle from concept, quoting, program award, product development, supplier selection, launch, post-production performance, & lessons learned utilizing the Magna Global Program Management System (GPMS):
  6. Preparation and communication of program status meetings to management steering committee and escalation of critical issues.
  7. Coordinating / monitoring project documentation, timelines, technical performance, budget, production, quality deliverables, and corrective action initiatives.
  8. Full program management ownership of program-related functional activities: quoting, purchasing, product engineering, quality, manufacturing / launch management, & finance/budget.
  9. Manage Series Production Phase including claims management, change management & continuous improvement, VA/VE activities, and execution of ongoing price negotiations / adjustments.
  10. Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (TS 16949), as well as EH&S requirements (OSHA, ANSI, and ISO).
  11. Ensure MAFACT standards are planned & implemented for all areas of responsibility to drive world class manufacturing.
  12. Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  13. Ensure all legislative requirements of OSHA, ISO, & ANSI are met.
  14. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Key Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five to ten years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in Program Launch Management in a manufacturing setting. Extensive communication skills (written and verbal) in order to communicate with executives, highly skilled and technical as well as non-skilled employees.
Additional Information
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, sing whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to create and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient on the computer, including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Prior experience utilizing AS400 Database software and ability to create spreadsheets.
