Job Description
This position is an integral part of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Silver Drivers, Safe Texans Program funded by Texas Department of Transportation and is essential to support project activities and meet the objectives of the grant. Responsible for overseeing statewide older driver traffic safety injury prevention programming. Additionally, this position will plan and conduct traffic safety related educational programming, CarFit events and monitor the performance and activities of all program staff. The Program Manager is the direct supervisor for the program support staff including program coordinators and student workers.
The Program Manager, under the direction of the PI/Director, plans, organizes, directs, manages day-to-day activities, develops, and implements policies and procedures for the administration of the program to meet program objectives, goals and targets.
Responsibilities:
-Plans, organizes, directs, and manages day-to-day activities, developing and implementing procedures for the administration of the program. Using several data sources for analysis, selects and plans activity and event locations, target geographic areas and populations and sources for new outreach and partnership opportunities.
-Assists in developing strategic plans and goals to support the program in addition to the activity steps accompanying each objective/goal/target.
-Assists with the development and production of materials designed for the program including print, radio and electronic materials. Coordinate and complete the purchasing of educational materials and tools for public education purposes. Research current trends and new materials that could be utilized for educational purposes.
-Develops and conducts programs including training, conferences, seminars, and workshops. Develops and maintains relationships with agencies/partners across the state to offer ongoing services.
-Supervises program support staff and student assistants. Provided daily support to staff on day-to-day operations, support at program events and activities, performs annual performance evaluations- and when necessary, works in partnership with Human Resources to manage personnel issues.
-Assists with yearly budgetary and contract processes. Prepare vouchers, purchase orders and requisitions and coordinate with accounting personnel and other support staff to ensure vendor payments are completed within specified timeframes. Through monthly reporting, monitors program budget and completes budget projections throughout the year to ensure monies are used responsibly, efficiently and for effective purposes. Identify areas that need budget adjustments if necessary and develop a plan for any budget amendment or modifications. Follow all established policies and procedures related to grant and budget management.
-Researches, develops and writes grant proposals, monthly grant reporting, in addition to preparing presentations, curriculums and educational tools. Maintains and develops communication between partners by attending in-person and virtual meetings, conference calls, and serving special work groups or committees to best meet the needs of the communities.
Other duties as required.
Required Education and Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Five years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
-Effective verbal and written communication skills.
-Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills.
-Ability to maintain attention to detail and utilize sound judgment.
-Ability to multitask and work both cooperatively with others and independently when needed.
-Strong decision-making abilities, communication skills and techniques, comfort with public speaking and working with different populations.
-Ability to travel throughout the state of Texas to coordinate and conduct program events, activities, and training.
-Ability to work outside in all weather conditions, lift up to 25 lbs
-Ability to load/unload program equipment and materials and tow a trailer.
-Knowledge of traffic safety issues, specifically older driver traffic safety trends.
-Knowledge and experience in the design and implementation of statewide educational programming.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
-Bi-lingual
-Certification: Currently certified CarFit Technician preferred but not required. If not currently certified CarFit Technician, certification required within 2 months of employment.
