Position Description

Performs the day-to-day activities of Business Continuity disciplines (Disaster Recovery, Incident Management and Emergency Response) and assessment efforts in accordance with business needs and goals. Provides support to build and maintain a sustainable program and related processes for identifying, assessing and responding to all organizational continuity risks that might affect the achievement of strategic initiatives and critical value imperatives.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the identification and assessment of enterprise vulnerabilities/risks, including strategic, operational and key initiative risks, threats, hazards and vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborates closely with business owners and project teams to assist in the development, assessment and monitoring of mitigation plans to ensure vulnerabilities/risks are managed to an acceptable level.
  • Identifies, evaluates and escalates issues that conflict with Zayo’s vulnerabilities/risk tolerance. 
  • Assists management in increasing awareness, building understanding, and becoming more effective and self-sufficient in managing vulnerabilities/risks. 
  • Works with business areas and process owners to ensure that vulnerabilities/risk related documentation is clear and accurate.
  • Develops processes and procedures to assist business areas in maintaining documentation.
  • Leads discussions and other efforts to help all areas of management become increasingly self-sufficient in describing their processes; their vulnerabilities/risks; and how they are managing those vulnerabilities/risks.
  • Consults on projects, business process redesigns, and other initiatives providing vulnerabilities/risk management expertise to ensure all are considered and addressed appropriately.
  • Develops, maintains, and improves vulnerabilities/risk management methodologies, tools, templates, and reports ensuring quality and effectiveness in efforts and deliverables.
  • Develops and maintains the continuity/risk management policies, procedures, processes, guidelines, templates, and structure.
  • Develops and maintains relevant internal repositories by updating content related to continuity/recovery documentation and helpful guidance and tools for business areas to utilize.
  • Creates and distributes periodic awareness messages, articles, and newsletters on relevant continuity/risk management matters. Perform research, conduct interviews, and publish articles to be shared to staff, managers, and executives across the company. 
  • Facilitates the development, implementation and maintenance of business continuity plans across all divisions/functional areas.
  • Facilitates and documents all test/exercise activities of each plan, along with process owners and recovery teams.
  • Works with management to develop and implement policies to provide a framework to ensure that business processes have appropriate business continuity and disaster recovery plans in place. 
  • Provides training and guidance to business owners and partners to increase awareness about disaster recovery and business continuity.

Qualifications

  • 1 year experience managing Business Continuity including plan development, testing/exercising, and performing business impact analyses.
  • 10 years cross-organizational experience; 5 years in operations.
  • Understanding of IT disaster recovery plan concepts and practices, with the ability to review disaster plans and their alignment with the organization's business continuity requirements. 
  • Understanding of business operational processes, information technology, emergency management, safety, logistics, customer service, and finance and accounting.
  • Experience interfacing with internal clients on continuity solutions, as well as, leading the planning and execution of projects and programs.
  • Experience developing recovery strategies for critical business functions, including the following: creating an overall summary of recovery strategy options, identifying alternative risk mitigation and recovery strategies based on conclusions from the BIA, facilitating recovery strategy workshop sessions, assessing current business recovery capabilities, and recommending enhancements to operations and infrastructure to strengthen recovery capabilities. 
  • Ability to identify and address internal client needs: developing and sustaining extensive client relationships using networking, negotiation and persuasion skills to identify and implement change management; preparing and presenting complex written and verbal materials; and defining resource requirements, project workflow and deliverables, and budget.
  • Successful experience as a project manager, including the following: leading project teams to generate a vision, establish direction and motivate members, create an atmosphere of trust, leverage diverse views, coach team members, and encourage improvement and innovation. 
  • May be required to participate on the Incident Management Team after hours, depending on incident.

Base pay range: $63,750 - 85,000, commensurate with experience.
