Role Summary
The Program Manager - GM is a key Exteriors position that provides the "Voice" of our customers to Magna and the "Face" of Magna to General Motors (GM). The Program Manager GM is responsible for the successful management of GM SI 3 awarded programs at Polycon and CoExTec (CET) resulting in a flawless customer launch. This role oversees and coordinates internal and external program deliverables between multiple manufacturing divisions and GM. This oversight includes collaboration with a cross functional team including but not limited to manufacturing, product engineering, account management, quality and plays a key role in anticipating, escalating, and mitigating potential risks . As the primary point of customer contact for a designated program(s), this position i nterfaces with all levels of internal and external stakeholders on aspects of managing, scheduling, organizing, and measuring project deliverables. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong cross-functional team leadership, the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, organization, prioritization, and communication skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the implementation of SI 3 Customer Specific Requirements including significant on-site interface or co-location at the customer site.
  • Facilitate / Lead customer high level communication meetings / PDT cross functional team meetings including maintaining and reporting open issues.
  • Supports development and/or deployment of PDP tools that improve overall effectiveness of PDP methodology; initiates continuous improvements within the Program Management function.
  • Monitors and educates program management teams on financial performance measures (e.g. EBIT, CM, IRR) and key performance indicators (KPI's) to promote financial success.
  • Develops project plans including work scope, project milestones, risk management, cost/benefit analysis, project timelines, and budgets to ensure program objectives are met.
  • Drives decisions to ensure success of the program considering timing, investment, profitability, reliability, and design integrity.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional disciplines and departments to ensure seamless program delivery.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Cont.
  • Communicates program status to Magna stakeholders, customers, and suppliers.
  • Negotiates with internal and external stakeholders, vendors, and customer to resolve conflict.
  • Oversees change requests to ensure timely implementation.
  • Uses risk management to anticipate and prevent problems from occurring; escalates challenges appropriately when needed.
  • Fosters an environment of continuous improvement and the mindset to deliver on customer expectations.
  • Supports and adheres to policies, procedures and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (IATF 16949).
  • Conducts business in an ethical manner in compliance with Magna Code of Conduct.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
Education/Skills/Special Knowledge -
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of Product Delivery Process and tools; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus.
  • Understanding of GD&T preferred.
  • Ability to influence decision making/outcomes with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and customers.
  • Knowledge of customer quoting and commercial procedures.
  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize your own and others work under time and cost pressure.
  • Moderate-to-advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools; willing to learn company & customer systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • English proficiency: ability to communicate in the language of the assigned customer a plus.

Qualifications Cont.
Experience -
  • Three (3) years of work experience in the automotive or similar industry, including at least one vehicle launch
  • Three (3) years of work experience in one or more of the following areas: Program Management, Engineering, Operations, Quality.
  • Previous experience in injection molding, painting, extruded trim, and/or assembly operations is desirable.
  • Previous experience in development & application of FMEA's
  • GM Engineering Specific Programs with Understanding of SI 3 / GM Systems
  • Project leadership experience in a matrix organization is a plus.
