JOB SUMMARY:

The Software Program Manager is responsible for the effective management of software-oriented programs and coordination of internal and external resources to successfully deliver the objectives of a program. A typical project or program involves existing software refactoring to introduce scalability or to add new features and functionality. The software programs may also introduce new software products and integrations to hardware products that are part of the SD ecosystem. In order to be successful, the Program Manager must be very adept at collaboration with multiple functional groups and disciplines with a familiarity working across different software platforms. This position will be focused on enterprise-wide application and software development program management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and should demonstrate the following competencies to consistently perform the essential functions of this position. All employees are expected to adhere to and be knowledgeable of Satcom Direct (SD) operations standards, established security/safety rules and requirements for attendance. The requirements listed below are representative of the fundamental knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the job successfully:
  • Builds, owns, and manages the master development schedule for the project.
  • Develops a comprehensive resource plan that correlates specific disciplines to the development schedule
  • Provides direct guidance to development team on expectations for development regarding schedule and scope.
  • Coordinates with Product Management to provide impact analysis of any discovery or requested scope changes
  • Continuously reports on progress of the development program in relation to current schedule and budget expectations
  • Raises awareness to stakeholders of any impediment or new discovery that may impact schedule, budget, or ability to meet intended scope
  • Raises awareness of any resource restriction that may impact ability to deliver on schedule, budget, and scope
  • Advises the organization on any additional needs of the development team that may be outside the original plan
  • Ensures clear communication between all development groups
  • Provides updates on achievements and key milestones
  • Light travel will be required based on duties required by the development program


GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:
  • Must be a confident communicator and presenter.
  • Must be able to balance multiple projects, change orders, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Superior project management and time management skills with a wide degree of creativity and flexibility.
  • Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management
  • Intimate understanding of agile development practices.
  • Aviation related experience preferred.
  • Proficient with general office software including but not limited to; Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to adapt to a variety of other software databases.
  • Atlassian tool suite experience desired.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience; computer science or engineering degree preferred.
  • Must have 5+ years in Software Project Management experience
  • Experience or certification in Agile software development practices


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening and reading, able to lift light objects (< 2Slbs), and use standard office equipment such as computer, printer, phone and cell phone. In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist or stoop in order to open/close cabinets, reach for files or other standard office type objects.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The office environment is generally quiet and, in a temperature, controlled setting with random adjustments in noise or temperature due to others talking or laughing loudly, unscheduled maintenance repairs to the building or its interior offices or unpredictable situations due to weather or other acts beyond company control. An employee must be willing to work their regularly assigned work schedule for their particular duties and/or job responsibilities and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on company/department needs, project requirements or customer demands. Some overnight travel is required to facilitate work objectives. While at client site locations, if applicable, employee will be required to adhere to the proper safety precautions established by the client while in proximity to their work area, flight-line or maintenance repair center; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment. The temperature at client locations can vary from controlled to variations off hot/cold when working, standing or walking in or near the flight-line or maintenance repair center.

In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role in Colorado is $110,000-$150,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. SD also offers a variety of benefits including: health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, experience level and location.
