Job Description Summary:
Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC), with offices in Connecticut, Colorado and California, is one of the country's most creative and dynamic providers of primary medical, dental, and behavioral health services, and a leader in practice-based research, health professionals training, and use of innovative technologies to advance health and healthcare. In addition, the organization has developed three wholly owned subsidiaries from the original pilot developments within the Weitzman Institute: the National Nurse Practitioner Residency and Fellowship Training Consortium (NNPRFTC), the National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement (NIMAA), and the ConferMed.

Job Description:

The NNPRFTC (the Consortium) is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) created to advance the model and rigor of postgraduate nurse practitioner and joint nurse practitioner/physician assistant training programs, both residency and fellowship. The organization emerged from an informal group of early innovators and developers of a residency and fellowship training for new nurse practitioners, first in primary care and then in specialty and sub-specialty care.

NNPRFTC's goal is twofold: 1.) increase opportunities for fully credentialed and licensed, novice nurse practitioners and physician assistants to participate in high quality, structured, postgraduate programs that provide experiential training to high-performance models of clinical care, combined with precepting and mentoring focused on honing the novice NP's and PA's skills and fostering their professional confidence; and 2.) providing programmatic accreditation for these postgraduate training programs, ensuring that the programs adhere to rigorous standards developed by nurse practitioners and experts in clinical care, adult learning and professional training. In achieving these goals, NNPRFTC will make a significant contribution to the profession of nursing and to the health and health care of the public.

General Description of Duties

The NNPRFTC Program Specialist is a full-time position (40 hours per week) 1.0 FTE position. The Program Specialist will provide support to the program and directed by the Executive Director, its committees and the accreditation commission. The Program Specialist is responsible for carrying out specific tasks related to conducting, coordinating, and supporting the growth and further development of postgraduate residency training programs, consortium membership and accreditation. This position (80% of the 1.0 FTE) will support the consortium's accreditation commission. One of the primary responsibilities is to meet the needs of the accreditation commission by managing the accreditation process. The Program Specialist will organize and oversee activities related to initial accreditation, renewal and all site visits. This position will facilitate and co-lead in consortium meetings, Board of Directors meetings, committee meetings and accreditation commission meetings and maintain all minutes, agendas and meeting materials.

Primary Program Specialist Job Responsibilities:
  • Handle projects and assignments requiring independent judgment, excellent problem solving skills, and in-depth knowledge of the consortiums functions, programs, ongoing activities and priorities
  • Demonstrate exceptional commitment to accuracy, detail, and follow-up, along with an ability to work under high intensity situations when necessary
  • Create, draft, edit, prepare and present Consortium documents and presentations using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
  • Co-facilitate and support quarterly board meetings, semi-annual membership meetings, semi-annual accreditation salon meetings and accreditation site visitor trainings
  • Arrange meetings and conferences, schedules appointments and perform other duties related to the consortium activities and accreditation commission activities
  • Record/maintain minutes from meetings and forward/follow-up with respective personnel according
  • Manages and supports all conference-related activities for the consortium (i.e. shipping materials, registration, booth rentals, hotel accommodations, marketing material inventory)
  • Maintains content and updates consortium website, membership website site, community forum and all social media outlets
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with tact and diplomacy, using good judgment, discretion and professionalism
  • Provide administrative, organizational and technical support to Executive Director, Consortium committees and Accreditation Commission
  • Remain flexible in work schedule in order to provide the most effective and efficient support for the consortium
  • Full understanding and comprehension of pre-established guidelines and NNPRFTC agency knowledge to perform the functions of the job.
  • The Program Specialist reports to the Executive Director

  • Bachelor's Degree BA/BS required

  • Computer and technical expertise including but not limited to experience with Microsoft Office and knowledge of web-based platforms and software such as: Office 365, Zoom web conferencing platform, Moodle Learning Management System,Internet4Associations, RegPacks, Memberclicks, EventBrite Qualtrics,and Survey Monkey
