Summary
The Primary Purpose of the Position is to serve as a Program Specialist for the Women Veteran Program. The incumbent is responsible for oversight of administrative and programmatic operations of the Women Veteran Program.

Qualifications
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
- Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: knowledge of policies and procedures involving patient care eligibility in order to develop, coordinate, evaluate and administer the administrative duties associated with the position. Knowledge of Human Resource Management policies and ability to inform employees of pertinent HR programs and processes related to leave, discipline and performance. Knowledge of a variety of federal laws and regulations such as the FOIA, Privacy Act, HIPAA, etc., in order to prevent the unauthorized disclosure of patient information. Analytical ability in order to analyze and recommend changes both orally and in writing regarding administrative functions and organizational structure of a department in order to improve, quality, productivity, efficiency, and patient satisfaction. Knowledge of clinical function and medical subspecialties to monitor the workload, functions, determine resources and provide advice and resolve problems. Knowledge of and the application of technical skills for a variety of computer applications, software and programs that will allow for the development of supporting the creation of spreadsheets, and data profiles. Knowledge of supply and contracting policies and procedures in order to manage the Outreach and In-reach supplies for a department.

Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
