Position Purpose

Responsible for the development, creation, testing, and modification of computer systems or programs according to clear and complete specifications.

Description

What You'll Do:

  • Develop, modify, compile, test, debug, document, and maintain simple to moderately complex applications programs and procedures. Evaluate basic interrelationships in immediate programming area to determine how changes in one program will affect another related area.
  • Conduct program testing and create necessary test files and data. Test modified programs, verify logic, perform any necessary "debugging", and write the documentation.
  • Design efficient sequential data storage layouts. Confer with user representatives to gain an understanding of necessary changes to system.

Work Environment:

  • Fast paced, multi-platformed environment which may require action and response 24X7 to support the technical business needs of the customer.

To Qualify for This Position, You'll Need:

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's in a job-related field
  • 4 years job related work experience OR
  • Associate's and 2 years job related work experience

Required Work Experience:

  • 1 year of technical experience with systems analysis, design, and/or programming experience or other job-related IT experience OR successful completion of BCBS Entry Level Training Program.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of applications/development, quality assurance and integration methodologies, concepts and facilities in a mainframe, midrange, and/or PC/LAN environment.
  • Able to demonstrate a good foundation in program logic design.
  • Capable of logical abstract thinking and assimilating/adhering to project goals and deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Pays attention to detail.

Required Software and Other Tools:

  • Basic knowledge of relevant operating systems, programming languages, and development tools.

We Prefer That You Have:

  • Programming experience with MS Access.
  • Claims/Healthcare Experience.
