Project Accountant

Position Overview:

We seek a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have experience in project accounting in the media and entertainment and/or tech industry. The Project Accountant will aid in the creation and management of projects within Sage Intact, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with relevant regulations.  The Project Accountant will also be integral in implementing contract and project software and the month-end accounting close process. 

The Project Accountant will report to the Controller and assist in FP&A tasks.

FLSA Status: Non-exempt 

The base annual salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000

Responsibilities:

• Manage the financial aspects of commercial, product, and content-related projects, including budget preparation, forecasting, and reporting.
• Manage Accounts Receivable, Sales Orders, and Purchase Order processes for project-related items, day-to-day transactions, and ad hoc items.
• Work with the implementation team on current Sage Intacct Contracts and Project implementation.
• Ensure all project expenses, including software development, hardware procurement, internal resource costs, and other technology costs, are accurately recorded and tracked.
• Monitor project progress and regularly update stakeholders, including project and product managers, technical leads, and FP&A. 
• Work cross-functionally with project and product managers, technical leads, and FP&A to identify potential financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Ensure that all project expenditures comply with company policies and procedures and relevant regulation.
• Prepare project financial reports and reconciliations as part of the month close process.
• Review and analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in overall project financial management.
• Participate in project team meetings and provide financial guidance to ensure successful project outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in project accounting, with experience in the media and entertainment and/or tech industry preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, focusing on tech project financials.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced tech environment.
• Knowledge of GAAP and relevant regulations,
• Familiarity with tech industry accounting practices, including software development and hardware procurement.
• High proficiency using MS Office, including intermediate knowledge of Excel (VLOOKUP and building spreadsheets)
