Job Overview:

The Project Accountant will be an integral part of the real estate development division of SBM Management

known as Somers West. We are in the process of designing and developing more than 11,000 residential lots and several million square feet of commercial property in the Sacramento Area and Hawaii. You will be a part of a team that is building complete communities from undeveloped land to finished, sustainable, and cutting-edge

neighborhoods where people desire to live.

This position is not just about the numbers. You will be expected to significantly contribute to the successful

horizontal and vertical completion of the existing and future builds. The individual in this position will work with a

highly motived, cohesive, problem-solving group of dedicated team members and professional consultants who

develop quality communities which sustain over time. We are not just developing another typical subdivision.

You must have a real estate development background, be passionate, entrepreneurial, dedicated to success, and prepare for future leadership roles as the company grows.

As the Project Accountant your skills will be relied upon to contribute to the processes of preparing monthly

construction draws for multiple development projects, weekly and monthly check runs, job cost reports, financial reports, and analyzing financial information for these projects. You- will be directly responsible for Accounts Payable/Receivable duties and attention to detail is paramount. You will be the first point of contact with our trade partners and vendors, professionalism is of the utmost importance.

Roles & Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. Other duties may be

assigned.

  • Oversee the accounts payable process to ensure proper review, approval, adherence to contract and budget balances, and timely and accurate payment.
  • Track lien releases, supplier lien releases and preliminary notices
  • Audit vendor insurance for compliance
  • Prepare, audit and Process monthly and weekly check runs through entire cycle
  • Audit and process GC invoice draw packages
  • Prepare job cost reports and analysis to verify compliance of the project within contract and budget parameters
  • Track budget versus actual profit and be able to communicate reasons for variances and understand the significant drivers to maximize profit
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for each project including balance sheet, income statement and cash flow.
  • Review owner contracts to understand accounting requirements and maintain books and records within contract compliance.
  • Process incoming mail specific to assigned development projects
  • Work with other Accounting team members to process and post Accounts Receivable entries.
  • Make bank deposits
  • Good communication skills are a must
Shift: Full time

Compensation: $62,000 - $65,000 per year
