Project Accountant

Overview
Porter Brothers is a family-owned business operating in multiple states. We are a general contractor with an excellent reputation in the commercial construction industry. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Accountant to join our dynamic team. This position could be hybrid or remote. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing financial aspects of various projects, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing insightful financial analysis. This position requires an understanding of job costing, financial accounting, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Responsibilities
• Budgets, job costing, purchase orders, contract agreements for various construction projects
• Process change orders and create billings packages
• Track owner contracts, subcontractor documents, and vendor purchase orders
• Prepare journal entries and job cost entries as required
• Prepare job projections and monitor profit fade/gain and revenue recognized on projects
• GL reconciliation monthly/quarterly
• Provide support to project team and ensure financial information accuracy for project reporting
• Research any unbilled issues to optimize the billing amounts for the billing period
• Ensure subcontract invoices conform to contracts
• Other duties as assigned
Experience
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and 3+ years of project accounting
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and well versed in GAAP
• Hands on experience in project accounting, preferably in the construction industry
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Excellent Excel skills with high proficiency in Word and Outlook
• Experience with Vista a plus
• High level of personal and professional integrity
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative, set priorities, and follow through
• Creative thinker with proven ability to spot issues or inefficiencies
• Advanced problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and respond to changing priorities
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
