Job Description
Position Summary
The Project Accountant will be responsible for providing hands-on technical support/knowledge for all job cost accounting and administrative tasks related to individual jobs or projects.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
-Perform monthly closing activities including direct cost re-allocation and accruals
-Responsible for job close tasks including a thorough review of historical cost data to ensure proper cost coding, compliance with sales arrangement and inclusion of all job costs
-Support the project team with cost analysis by preparing job cost reports to measure actual progress against planned and the reporting package necessary for forecasting
-Partner with Project Managers in providing project cost to complete forecasting, analysis, and reporting.
-Assists the Project Manager in achieving financial targets, optimizing project profitability, and cash flow
-Supports the PM in identifying, evaluating, and assessing risk and opportunities, strategies, and response activities
-Ensure accuracy of billings/revenue as part of the monthly close process and assist in the completion of the monthly close/reporting process
-Regularly analyze the differences between budgeted and actual costs for each project to help identify overages or cost-saving opportunities and allow for timely corrective actions
-Conduct a post-project analysis to evaluate the accuracy of cost estimates, identify lessons learned, and improve future project budgeting
-Oversee the project accounting team
-Participate in all weekly project calls
-Lead project handover meetings
-Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency
-Work on special projects as requested

-Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
-Must be able to communicate clearly and courteously, verbally, and in writing with strong organizational skills.
-Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work with little supervision and in cooperation with a variety of staff members.
Education, Training and Experience Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related discipline from an accredited institution
·CMA a plus
·2 to 3 years experience project accounting/construction/percentage completion methodologies or strong cost accounting acumen
-Excellent planning, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
-Detail oriented, fast learner with ability to quickly become proficient with accounting software, Microsoft Word and Excel
