What you will do:
This position is for a Project Coordinator of new product development within the Johnson Controls North America Ducted Products Business Unit which is a segment of the Global Products Residential & Light Commercial HVAC Equipment business.
The role of the Project Coordinator is to manage product development projects through the complete project lifecycle with supervision. This candidate will exhibit technical competence in the products that serve the business's industry, be a highly collaborative team player, strong communication skills and be viewed as a high potential to grow within the program management organization (PMO) as well as leadership within the business
How you will do it:
- Use the Johnson Controls stage-gate product development process to manage risks throughout the project lifecycle
- Initiate, plan, execute, control and close projects to deliver scope within established targets for budget, quality, and time to market.
- Develop content for leadership readout cadence
- Deals with discrete tasks or sub-projects from assignment to completion. Often works with others within the PMO to develop work objectives and can define and communicate scope, resources, and plan for a project (with moderate assistance)
- Plan for and acquire resources according to project scope.
- Coordinate the efforts of core, extended and support team members, contractors, or consultants to deliver projects according to plan.
- Create and deliver progress reports via project scoreboards/dashboards, management reviews, and project team meetings.
- Identify, escalate, and help resolve issues and conflicts within cross-functional project teams.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path(s).
- Communicate and work closely with other program managers, functional managers, and executive leadership to achieve project goals.
- Leverage best practices and tools to aid in project execution and management.
- Work with the Plant and the Warehouse personnel for expeditious material movement needs to support all product development programs
- Support all Plant and Warehouse events - Trial runs, production runs, tear downs - including regulatory agency requirements (eg AHRI)
What we look for:
Required
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or related field with at least 2 years of experience post undergrad in project management or other technical field
- Experience creating and managing a schedule, assigning project tasks, facilitating project meetings, and formulating resource plans.
- Experience with managing local or regionally distributed cross functional project teams.
- Knowledge and prior use of project management software tools and concepts (such as Microsoft Project) and the Microsoft software suite.
- Ability to travel occasionally for the purpose of meeting with team members, stakeholders, or off-site personnel and management.
- Strong communication skills
Preferred
- Experience managing and resolving conflict among cross functional project teams that are potentially remote
- Direct work experience within the HVAC industry
- Experience using collaboration platforms (e.g. Microsoft Teams) and work management platforms (e.g. Daptiv, Project, Smartsheet, Wrike)
- Proximity to the manufacturing facility
