Job Description

The Project Coordinator I, under general supervision, supervises, coordinates, and assists with the completion of projects. Develops and coordinates project plans through full implementation.


Responsibilities:

- Provides data and informational support to the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute (NRI) Natural Resource Conservation and Policy Program (NRCPP), such as but not limited to:

  • Reading, comprehending, and synthesizing specific topic areas within a variety of policies, laws, and regulations as assigned

  • Reading, comprehending, and synthesizing specific topic areas found within planning and management documents such as Department of Defense Integrated Natural Resource Management Plans

  • Tracking a variety of due outs, deliverables, and accomplishments of a variety of NRI and sponsor related resilience projects.

  • Provides support in relation to nature-based solution projects specifically in regenerative agriculture and climate resilience

  • Combining the information obtained from sub-bullets above to make determinations and proposals in relation to efficiency and program implementation compliance.

  • Provides logistical support to the Program, such as but not limited to: 

  • Determining meeting participant availability and scheduling

  • Accurately capturing meeting minute notes & participation

  • Compiling and maintaining a comprehensive list of tasks, documents, due outs, and assignments, including milestones & status

  • Actively participating in meetings and planning sessions to ensure the above objectives are addressed.

  • Supports identification of opportunities for integration between the NRCPP & other NRI Programs and Elements within NRI or related organizations as needed:

  • Examples include tracking ongoing research initiatives by other NRI staff that support the NRCPP & Related Programs

  • Participating in other meetings as necessary.

- Provides and oversees administrative and logistical support, prior to and on-site, for events and meetings by anticipating needs such as food, audio visual, and printed background materials; securing meeting locations and hotel rooms; ordering business meals as requested; drafting email invitations; managing RSVPs; maintaining contacts lists; taking notes; and assisting with meeting follow-up

  • Assists senior level staff with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other document processing, formatting, proofreading, and writing. 

  • Work to determine additional project needs. Writes reports and other related materials. Monitors and reports on financial activity for assigned projects, as necessary. 

  • Coordinates the development, design, purchase and installation and implementation of new services, as necessary. Maintains data integrity, security, and accuracy. 

  • Coordinates project activities including project initiation, value assessments, work plan development, estimating, and project controls, as necessary. 

  • Coordinates with vendors and others in the delivery and support for systems and services, as necessary. 

  • Coordinates multiple work streams to ensure cross-project dependencies and impacts are identified and managed, as necessary. Ensures compliance with applicable regulations. 

  • Assists with forecasting and progress reporting against milestones, budgetary updates, and the change management process, as necessary. 

  • May supervise staff and students, as necessary.

  • Other duties as required

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education or experience. Preferred in Agriculture, Wildlife, or Natural Sciences.

  • Three years of related experience in project coordination/administration. 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience working with or knowledge of processes related to federal, state, or other public organizations with a conservation mission or focus.

  • Experience in managing multiple projects and initiatives with varying subjects, timelines, and milestones.

  • Experience in developing or delivering information to ensure understanding across diverse audiences. 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Proficient in a variety of computer platforms and software (i.e., word processing, spreadsheet applications) that aid in completing the job requirements listed above.

  • Knowledge of standard proofreading. 

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. 

  • Ability to operate independently on a subject or task, knowing when to ask for help, and ensuring timely completion.

  • Ability to articulate complex topics both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Working knowledge of legal and regulatory processes utilized to provide for agricultural, conservation, and/or compliance in relation to resource management.

  • Knowledge of conservation laws and regulations related to wildlife, agricultural, and/or natural resources.
