Position Summary:

Illumina is seeking a construction project engineer with 2+ years of commercial construction experience to join our rapidly growing San Diego Capital Projects Team. This position will support the cross-functional project teams which includes internal stakeholders along, A/E firms, General Contractors, and commissioning agents.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in tracking follow-up relating to Contracts, RFPs, and service provider/contractor selection documentation
  • Set up and maintain a project filing system, assist in project filing system and maintenance
  • Prepare document distributions to Contractors and other related vendors
  • Assist in preparing and distributing project status reports including internal cost control documentation, and financial accrual reporting
  • Assist in preparing purchase orders, letters of authorization, etc.
  • Maintain internal status reports, project lists, dashboards, project metrics, etc.
  • Attend in the preparation of Permit-To-Work documents and associated communication of project activities
  • Assist in the preparation of project budgets, accruals, and other financial documents
  • Attend and document project meetings (record minutes)
  • Set up project and internal meetings utilizing Outlook and MS Teams
  • Manage minor, less technical office projects as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications and the preparation of diagrams, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules
  • Must understand principles and practices of construction and contract administration
  • Basic understanding of architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building management automation systems and engineering concepts
  • General understanding of Building Codes, Mechanical Codes, Electrical Codes, and Plumbing Codes as they relate to construction of projects
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, and scheduling software (Primavera or MS Project)
  • 2 years of related (Healthcare/Life Science/Manufacturing/Pharma) industry is preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or other related discipline required
  • A minimum of 2 years of project experience working in the construction industry required

The estimated base salary range for the Project Engineer role based in the United States of America is: $72,000 - $108,000. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
