What You'll do

CompuNet, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona. We partner with industry leading solution providers such as Cisco, VMware, Palo Alto, Microsoft, Crestron, Genetec, Axis, Poly and many more top technology manufacturers to develop and deliver integrated solutions that provide maximum reliability, security, performance and scale to accelerate our clients' success.

This role will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring all assigned projects
  • Communicating effectively during daily interactions with clients to interpret their requirements and needs
  • Working with engineering department on design and drafting phases of jobs
  • Assisting in estimating projects which the company is bidding
  • Assisting in the coordination of the procurement of materials, supplies, and services. Controls timely delivery to job site
  • Preparing and managing the project installation plan and prepares and implements job procedures
  • Supervising and monitoring the performance of field techs and subcontractors
  • Closing out jobs including completing the engineering portion of all paperwork, ensuring POs are completed, Notice of Completions (NOC) is sent and jobs are turned over to operations for closeout
  • Submitting reports on project status
  • Monitoring compliance in all aspects of the project as applicable
  • Continuing training and development by studying literature and attending seminars to stay current with regards to products, processes, and materials
  • Working with Field Technicians on installation procedures and product training for their advancement
  • Addressing job site challenges by re-engineering the planned solution on the fly in coordination with the lead engineer
  • Understanding the engineered solution and providing input as needed to the lead engineer

  • Associates Degree or equivalent level of experience
  • Performs each essential duty of the position satisfactorily and in a timely manner
  • A proven track record of project management success
  • 2+ years in the audio-visual and/or physical security industry with a manufacturer, rep, or integrator
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of:

    • Audio, Video, Video Conference and Control systems
    • Video Surveillance, access control, license plate recognition, intrusion systems etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to self-motivate and self-manage time to maintain project timelines, benchmarks, and deadlines
  • Basic computer skills including common applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Advanced construction/handy-man skills. Understanding of tools and ways to professionally install hardware
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to travel as needed

Our ideal candidate would have the following preferred requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • PMP certification
  • Certified in installing copper and fiber optic infrastructures
  • 3+ years experience in the AV installation, Physical Security and or Telecom Cabling industry

    • May have had previous experience under the job titles of: Install Technician Level 2, Cabling Team Lead, AV Field Engineer, Physical Security Install Technician level 2, Physical Security Field Engineer
  • Entry level knowledge of AV, Wireless, and Security systems design, operation and installation
  • Formal training in cable installation and termination
  • A/V and/or Physical Security manufacture certifications such as:

    • CTS-I or CTS-D - NSCA or Cedia
    • Physical Security - Axis Certified professional
