Project Engineer Associate / Project Engineer I
Join a fast-paced team of engineers creating cutting edge software products for the US Air Force. You will work alongside Ball Aerospace and US Air Force developers and engineers to provide technologies that increase the capabilities of our nation's military. Our team's goal is to create user driven applications that optimize human-machine performance in the next generation of military systems. We accomplish this by exploiting state of the art hardware and software practices while maintaining a tight feedback loop with the service members we support. Our unique customers give you the opportunity for interesting and meaningful work. Our technologies have been used DOD wide as well as by civilian government and commercial organizations.
Our small team allows us to be quick and efficient while giving you the chance to grow as a well-rounded engineer. This also gives you the ability to be involved in the entire development process: conceiving solutions, designing user interfaces, implementing architectures, programming applications and testing code. There is a significant opportunity for you to develop novel solutions to problems; many of our team members own design and software patents. What You'll Do:
- Manage and develop custom software solutions to support a system of wearable technologies including mobile devices, a wide variety of miniaturized sensors, communications gear, and devices to enhance operator safety and performance in the field or in training.
- Lead the execution of full lifecycle software development including software requirements, design, development, test and evaluation, verification and validation, and maintenance
- Develop specifications, design and analysis documentation and presentation, cost, schedule, and resource planning.
- Provide and communicate understanding of both the technical and programmatic aspects of a project to the project team as well as the customer.
- Perform configuration management and documentation of software products.
- Develop detailed development schedules and manage team activities to meet delivery milestones.
- Generate cost estimates.
- Operate as the project owner, interfacing with Air Force researchers and operational personnel to understand and develop requirements.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, the Strategic Support Units, and the company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You'll Need:
- Project Engineer Associate - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 5 or more years related experience.
- Project Engineer I - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active Secret security clearance is required
- Experience with engineering project management.
- Experience in software development with Java, Kotlin and other object-oriented languages.
- Experience with Agile development practices including Scrums, Sprints, and Rapid demonstrations.
- Experience with issue trackers, Git, and Agile software development.
- Excellent communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR PROJECT ENGINEER ASSOCIATE: $97,500 - $121,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
- HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR PROJECT ENGINEER I: $121,500 - $153,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
