Project Engineer - Gardena, CA
Job Description
McKenna is a subsidiary of FloWorks International LLC, which is a privately held company located in Pasadena, Texas.
ENGINEERING:
- Ability to ask questions
- Self-motivated with the ability to originate and adapt to new ideas
- Cursory knowledge in the basics of seismic design
- Proficiency in current versions of AutoCAD and Solidworks design programs
- Proficient in latest version of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Broad product/application/industry knowledge base
- Process system design and fabrication
- Basic Pump Hydraulics
- Compression and vacuum applications with various gases
- Pneumatic Conveying systems
- Familiarity with a wide variety of pump, compressor, vacuum pump types
- Ability to integrate various pieces of equipment into a homogeneous system
- Familiarity with a variety of piping and piping design
- Control and Instrumentation Systems
GENERAL SKILLS:
- Ability to work without supervision but ask questions when necessary
- Ability to handle multiple projects at once
- Understanding of Gant Chart work process
- Ability to communicate accurately and effectively, good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously
- Ability to effectively interface with other individuals or groups, sales, shop technicians, construction personnel, vendors
- Ability to complete package design and fabrication on time and on budget
- Ability to seek out company and customer's needs and prioritize own work accordingly
- Able to balance engineering tasks with the commercial/business objectives of the Company
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Good understanding of Project cost and schedule management
Qualifications / Experience / Competencies
Qualifications/Experience/Competencies
- A degree in Engineering, five (5-10) years of system design and integration experience.
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written) are required to effectively interact with customer and support staffs within the company.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting, problem solving, analytical skills, and engineering technical skills are important, as well as independent decision making in an environment where a sense of urgency in terms of maximizing profit and minimizing lost is present.
- Able and willing to travel for field work and/or construction crew supervision.
- Project Management skills:
- Project Cost accounting and budget management
- Scheduling and expediting of vendors and sub-contractors
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods of walking or standing at a jobsite
- Must be able to frequently lift up-to 10 pounds at a time
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
