Job Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, chemical or controls engineering with a minimum of 5-7 years (2 years of experience can be substituted for a technical M.S. degree) in engineering in a technical role.
  • Internship or new hire experience in process safety design, process improvement, statistical process control, or lean six sigma applications.
    • Experience in equipment specification, design, and integration for new and existing processes.
  • Able to travel up to 50% as workload dictates, typical travel 10-15%
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States or the UK without company sponsorship.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in the global engineering business unit as the project lead for HSE & HAZOP activities entrusted to execute critical capital investments projects.
  • Supporting global operations projects in their development, implementation, and sustainment through the management of local health/safety/environmental (HSE) engineering firms to ensure adherence to local HSE standards.
  • Design and analyze pieces of manufacturing equipment to ensure the safety of those who utilize them.
  • Serve as a resource for technical staff in the application of the company's loss prevention standards, responsible care standards, and process safety procedures.
  • Review risk assessment screenings for management of change (MOC) and organizing and delivering effective and efficient Process Safety Trainings (PSI, MOC, TC&S etc.) as needed for stewardship of processes.
  • Assisting incident investigation teams in investigating and classifying process safety incidents, as well as providing support in the development of process tools and action plans to close identified process safety gaps.
  • Identify risks associated with manufacturing processes and helping to develop safe manufacturing protocols through a structured process (i.e., HAXOP/LOPA) and lead project team to complete associated risk mitigation actions.
  • Working with vendors to design, manufacture, install, commission, maintain and optimize state-of-the-art manufacturing processes from a safety perspective.
  • Supporting multi-discipline engineering and operations projects requiring the integration of technology and resources to meet operational objectives.
  • Providing technical/procedural expertise and guidance to others in accomplishing projects as directed.

Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Experience with process flow analysis and general manufacturing principles
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including communication, execution and follow-up assessment
  • Ability to work focus on major core projects and adhering to instructions (preventing scope creep)
  • Working proficiency with lean six sigma analysis and analytical problem solving
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills in front of all levels of the organization
  • Knowledgeable in the use of engineering software (Computer Aided Design (CAD), Minitab, Office Suite)
  • Strong technical English proficiency

  • Key corporate safety metrics (recordable rate, lost time rate, severity rate)
  • Accuracy of engineering responsibilities and adherence to financial budgets
  • Attention to detail
