This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.
Job Summary
Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer Intern to support the design and construction of a first-of-a-kind R&D facility for the Kairos Power fuels program. Reporting to the Fuels Operations Manager, you will help coordinate and track design, manufacturing, and construction activities to enable a timely delivery of the facility in a cost-effective manner. The ideal candidate has a basic understanding of project management principles and concepts, is highly organized, and can help integrate and align a cross-functional design and construction team. You will be working with experts in the nuclear fuels R&D space to help translate their designs and engineering specifications into hardware.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of design, procurement, and construction schedules.
- Track completion of project work, track technical queries, and track changes to the engineering design.
- Assist and coordinate with technical leads to gather and distribute information on the project. Â Â
- Flag issues that may require follow-up and ensure that issues are promptly resolved.
- Provide regular presentation updates on internship work and progress
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in engineering or scientific discipline, manufacturing, business administration, project management, or construction management is required.
- Experience with project management or equivalent education is required.
- Familiarity with spreadsheets, inputting and manipulating data, and developing models is required. Â
- Ability to develop presentations to executive management and use software such as MS PowerPoint is required.
- Ability to identify and track technical queries, funnel information to correct stakeholders, and provide follow-up on resolution for such technical queries is required.
- Proven team player with excellent verbal and written communication.
- Experience working in a laboratory or industrial environment is preferred.
- Experience with developing and tracking performance metrics is preferred.
