Your Opportunity
This is an exciting full-time position working within our Environmental Services group in the Intermountain West. The selected candidate can be based out of our Salt Lake City, UT, Denver, CO, or Reno, NV offices. The position will serve as a Project GIS Lead for a small, emerging GIS team dedicated to delivering a range of geospatial services for a large electric transmission client in the region. Prior experience working in the realm of environmental-related GIS is beneficial in qualifying for this role. Activities with a GIS component conducted in support of our client include: transmission line routing and siting, permitting, and construction; GIS administration, management, and oversight; discipline field surveys (e.g., biological, aquatic, and cultural resources); mapping; geospatial analysis; development of web applications to support project management and field campaigns; stakeholder meetings and outreach; subcontractor procurement; and training/education of non-GIS personnel. Though the transmission GIS team is small, the team has access to a talented pool of geospatial professionals and abundant technology resources across the company, as well as a mature corporate GIS infrastructure.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the GIS lead for major electric transmission projects, from routing and siting to construction
- Manage and disseminate workload among GIS personnel to support a diversity of project needs
- Prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments with concurrent schedules
- Perform routine and complex geospatial analyses in support of project needs
- Develop effective figures and maps that clearly communicate subject data and analysis results
- Research, capture, and maintain enterprise and project-specific datasets
- Develop geospatial models and visualizations
- Ensure efficient, accurate data communication between GIS and CAD platforms to support collaboration with engineering teams
- Implement program procedures and standards for data storage and transmittal, cartographic production, GIS workflows, and quality assurance/quality control
- Monitor personal and team progress to ensure adherence to budget and schedule
- Assist with GIS program development and leadership efforts as necessary
- Perform work accurately with the highest emphasis on detail and quality
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within a multidisciplinary team and with the client
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Extensive knowledge and experience in GIS, including geospatial analysis, figure production, field data collection and post-processing, geodatabase design and maintenance, and GIS administration
- Demonstrated experience managing infrastructure or environmental-related GIS projects
- Extensive experience working with the Esri ArcGIS platform (i.e., Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online)
- Experience with web applications and mobile GIS, especially Esri ArcGIS Online and Field Maps/Collector
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and CAD-to-GIS data conversion
- Experience with Python scripting and other forms of automation is an asset
- Passion for and understanding of the fields of geography, geomatics, geodesy, technology, and information communication

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in GIS, geography, geomatics, geosciences, environmental science, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated professional work experience in the field of GIS.
- Prior experience working within a consulting environment will be considered valuable.
- Specific experience providing GIS services within the environmental sector will be considered a strength but is not required.
