Job Description

Torch Technologies, a 100% employee-owned company, has a new and exciting opportunity to add a Project Lead /Scrum Master position to our team in Huntsville, AL. The individual will be a part of a team that works directly with Army Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC) and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Government customers.

We are seeking a talented, experienced, and self-starting individual to serve as a project lead for data projects that include coordination of effort between our DevSecOps and DataOps teams. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in improving the relationship, collaboration, and practices between these teams using Agile, Scrum, and Kanban techniques. Your primary responsibility will be to lead ongoing data operation and protection efforts within the Ground Based Missile DefenseDataOps processes while fostering a productive and collaborative environment. Your secondary responsibility will involve utilize your agile experience to support a team of engineers in a scrum master/team coach role. This involves using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) scrum practices. You will collaborate with engineering teams and others to capture tasks and deliverables. This position will support coordination efforts between teams and work through communication and collaboration impediments at a team of teams level.

Responsibilities and areas of support include but are not limited to the following:

• Lead projects focused on data and security integration with the support of DevSecOps and data management experts
• Facilitate Collaboration using Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies and support process improvement
• Act as Scrum Master/Team Coach to engineers that may be independent to your project lead activities
• Develop and nurture strong working relationships with stakeholders from multiple teams, including developers, security professionals, data engineers, and data analysts
• Promote knowledge sharing, best practices, and lessons learned to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in STEM or a related technical field and 10 years experience.
• Strong understanding of data security principles, agile methodologies, and best practices in software development and data operations.
• Experience in data operations, data governance and data management, including data cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to data security and privacy (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS)

• Great organizational skills with ability to assist in backlog refinement and definition of done refinement
• Ability to work independently and as part of a group
• Ability to lead functionally and geographically dispersed teams of engineering professionals with differing perspectives, skills, and backgrounds
• Training or certification in SAFe, Scrum, or similar agile practices
• Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance is required

Desired Qualifications:

• SAFe Certification (e.g., SAFe Scrum Master, SAFe Advanced Scrum Master, SAFE Product Owner/Product Manager, SAFe DevOps, SAFe SPC)
• Additional certifications in data governance or management (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional, Certified Data Governance Professional)
• Previous experience in any of the Missile Defense System (MDS) element or subcomponent activities
• Experience in the use and analysis of data for complex systems
• General understanding of system engineering principles
