Job Description

The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation (PJMF) is a philanthropic organization dedicated to advancing artificial intelligence and data science solutions to create a thriving, equitable, and sustainable future for all. PJMF works in partnership with public, private, and social institutions to drive progress on our most pressing challenges, including digital health, climate change, broad digital access, and data maturity in the social sector.

We are looking for a Project Management Associate to join PJMF to assist in the seamless execution of AI-based product development and deployment. The Associate will gain hands-on project management experience in the field of AI and data science while working alongside a diverse and passionate team of technologists. The charter of the Products and Services team is to identify, develop and deploy strategic data and AI solutions focused on unlocking opportunities and addressing broad challenges the social good sector is facing now and in the near future. In this role, you will help them accomplish this goal by collaborating with stakeholders across the organization and by ensuring projects align with timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.

The Project Management Associate will also be a part of the Rising Leaders for Equity Rotational Program. This two-year professional experience provides exposure across the Foundation and the broader field of philanthropy while providing a holistic professional experience centered on mutual learning, growth, and innovation. The Program Associate cohort will take part in a leadership-oriented curriculum that will equip them with the necessary skills to advance a career in social impact, whether in philanthropy or the broader civil society. Over the course of your tenure, our team will work with you to identify the next step in your career journey, and upon completion of the RL4E program, PJMF will work to support you to continue a legacy of social impact beyond PJMF.

Things you’ll do in your first year:

  • Assist in defining project scopes, objectives, and technical deliverables in collaboration with project leads, engineers, and stakeholders.
  • Support the development of project plans, schedules, and milestones with a focus on technical requirements and dependencies.
  • Contribute to sprint planning and backlog refinement in Agile development environments.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and technical requirements.
  • Facilitate meetings, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring follow-ups on action items.
  • Communicate project updates, technical risks, and proposed solutions to stakeholders in both technical and non-technical terms.
  • Support additional work carried out by the Products & Services team such as consultations, managing open source contributions, etc.

What you need to be successful:

  • Study in areas of Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience) experience in a related field.
  • Strong understanding of software development workflows, Agile methodologies, and sprint management.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities with an eye for detail.
  • Basic familiarity with technical concepts like APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and code repositories.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for building a human-centered, tech-enabled future where everyone thrives.
  • Work eligibility – Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

What We Offer:

  • Compensation – We anticipate the starting salary range for this role to be $60,000, with flexibility based on graduate-level applicants.
  • Health Coverage – We offer Foundation-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their spouses or domestic partners and dependents. In addition, we provide HSA/FSA plans, life insurance, and short- and long-term disability coverage.
  • Long-term Rewards – Our 401(k) retirement plan includes generous matching of up to 6% of annual pay, plus an additional discretionary match at the end of the year.
  • Flexible PTO – Progressive approach to PTO reflecting our respect for diversity, commitment to our team members, and ability to adapt to changing employee values. In addition, the Foundation recognizes 11 paid national holidays per year and may also announce closure for local, regional, or state holidays.
  • Remote Work Environment – Employees work 100% remotely–but not alone–alongside a community of mature, socially minded professionals. We provide a monthly work support stipend to offset the costs of phone, internet, or co-working space.
  • Wellness Support – Access to Ginger+, Active and Fit Gym membership discount, and SmartSpend Plus, along with financial well-being providers
  • Parental Leave – We provide up to 6 months of gender-neutral paid leave for parents and caregivers when they have a new addition to their families.
  • Learning Reimbursements – We encourage team members to explore development opportunities such as peer learning, internal training, and external activities.
  • Philanthropic Gift Matching – We support our team members' personal investments in social impact by matching eligible charitable donations 1:1 up to $1,000 per calendar year.

Application Deadline: March 1, 2025

Employment Dates: June 1, 2025 - June 2027

We look forward to receiving your application and learning more about your vision, potential, and commitment to using AI, technology, and social impact to address critical global challenges.
