WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Manager with experience in managing construction of water distribution systems & treatment facilities, and wastewater collection systems, pump stations & treatment facilities for our Baltimore City office, to work at Charles County, DPW office at La Plata in Maryland. Job Description

You will manage and lead construction management projects for water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, water/wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations. Construction Management Activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Maintain contact with clients about upcoming new opportunities and projects
  • Manage contract administration activities and prepare construction progress reports to document progress and to identify key issues that need to be addressed by the client team
  • Act as the Owner's agent with regards to the construction process
  • Manage and provide daily guidance to a team of construction engineers and inspectors, project control specialists, and administrators
  • Supervise field inspection staff, directing and assigning specific tasks
  • Ability to prepare clear technical, financial, administrative and explanatory correspondences
  • Understand, evaluate and solve construction related field issues
  • Keep detailed records of contractor's performance and progress
  • Oversee/Track the technical submittal, shop drawing review and RFI process, with support of design lead
  • Evaluate and review contractor schedule and pay applications, and making recommendations to the client
  • Evaluate the merits of contractor issued change orders and claims, and making recommendations to the client
  • Review and assess progress of work for compliance with approved construction schedule; and provide analysis of monthly contractor schedule construction deficiencies and offer recommended corrective actions
  • Manage the change order management process, with support of project control specialists, construction engineers, and designers
  • Assist in the RFI, submittals, and change order review process, and review contractor's work schedule implementation
  • Negotiate task orders and develop cost proposals for clients
  • Perform Constructability reviews and value engineering analysis
  • Conduct/Attend construction meetings with client and contractors
  • Monitor contractor's Quality Assurance plan and conformance with project quality requirements
  • Identify project risks and provide mitigation plan
  • Coordinate start-up and commissioning with the client and commissioning agent
  • Provide technical guidance and insight during punch list/closeout activities
  • Lead the construction management and administration activities related to cost, schedule and quality with team support
  • Assure the document control systems are established and maintained, through project closeout
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related technical field
  • An advanced degree and Professional Certification is desirable
  • 7-10 or more years' experience in project/construction management of water treatment facilities, wastewater collection systems, pump stations and treatment facilities
  • Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods
  • Understanding of all facets of the construction process
  • Strong writing skills to support technical reporting as well as oral communication skills are required, and proficiency with MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Familiarity with the use of use of variety project control systems such as Contract Manager, Primavera P/6, MS Project, SharePoint
  • Proactive leader, problem-solver, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Valid driver's license
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
