We are seeking an experienced PMP-certified Project Manager for an opportunity with a large federal customer. The ideal candidate will have excellent core skills (meeting minutes, presentations, capturing/distilling information, strategic insight on project next steps) and have supported a large Federal agency, with experience in a client-facing role. The Project Manager will support the entire program providing leadership and guidance to each of the auditors, and analysts while assisting our Program Manager. The Project Manager should be a self-starter who demonstrates initiative, interfaces well with multiple clients and has experience in taking ownership of work assignments. Ideally, the selected candidate will have supported internal audit projects and has an understanding of internal controls.


The chosen candidate will join a skilled team of professionals dedicated to the management of internal controls over financial reporting and other associated operational programs to help manage any instances of fraud, waste and abuse across the Department. Our team provides expert technical accounting and auditing advice and services at a level equivalent to experienced and industry audit and accounting professional standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Apply expertise in the disciplines and technical areas to include Healthcare auditing, Federal Finance, and Financial Systems.
  • Collaborate with a variety of teams, including technical resources, end user groups, and stakeholders to define, analyze and document business requirements, processes, and workflows. 
  • Conduct analysis of specific issues and identification of alternatives. 
  • Develop and deliver compelling and polished presentations to government personnel and large teams. 
  • Develop and maintain project management artifacts for senior government officials and large teams to include, but not limited to: Process Flows, Meeting Minutes, Action Item Logs, and Risk Registers.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements regarding existing and future procedures and processes.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reporting and assist with special projects, as required.
  • Support the development of business process cycle memos (which consist of a narrative internal control documentation portion, flowcharts, and control evaluation matrixes).
  • Assist in risk management activities including identifying, mitigating, and escalating risks. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • PMP Certification
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in project management
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, and communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal 
  • Ability and drive to learn from challenges and take on progressive responsibility 
  • Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing requirements 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently 
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, SharePoint including significant experience using Visio for creating process flows and PowerPoint for creating presentations 
  • The ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior relevant experience in the healthcare industry or internal controls
  • Prior experience with audits in accordance with standards (Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) and non-GAGAS)
  • Experience with Department of Veterans Affairs and/or Veterans Health Administration is a plus.
  • Previous healthcare audit experience is preferred.
