Summary

Johnson Controls Supplier Diversity & Sustainability team is seeking a Project Manager to support and manage strategic projects, lead process improvements and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the supplier diversity function. The position will report directly to the Vice President of Supplier Diversity & Sustainability. You will collaborate with multiple functions across the organization and will work to achieve superior performance in delivering improved operational effectiveness and efficiency. The person in this role will interface with the Procurement, the Field Installation and Service business, Supplier Development, IT, Legal, engineering and other functional groups as needed. The candidate should also be able to liaise with external stakeholders; including suppliers and customers.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • This project manager will help roadmap the supplier diversity spend, support the deployment of the supplier diversity toolset and the roll out of the supplier sustainability tool.
  • Manage strategic initiatives and projects from development to initiation, implementation and to closure. Ensure change management activities provide for efficient and full adoption of new programs.
  • Ensure the requirements of key stakeholders are incorporated into the project plans.
  • Manage and influence team members from other functional groups, working in a matrixed environment ensuring the project outcomes align with the objectives of the business
  • Manage project schedule, project activities, resolve issues and elevate them when necessary.
  • Work closely with project team members: business analysts for requirements gathering & analysis, system architects for system design and integration, implementation engineers for system implementation and testing.
  • Effectively track project deliverables from team members, customers and vendors to ensure they are delivered and up to standard. Identify & track issues to closure.
  • Generate documentation for status reporting, documentation of project progress, activities accomplished, open issues, and next steps.

  • Capable of working in a matrix environment
  • Process Mapping, Six Sigma background strongly preferred
  • Possess 3 years of experience in project management, 3 years of experience in program management, vendor management, information systems, business processes, internal controls, procedures, and improvement initiatives. Experience with business systems implementation is expected
  • A fast learner, hands-on, attention-to-detail, committed to proactive continuous improvement and excellent customer service.
  • Problem solving - identifying and developing solutions based on existing processes or systems.
  • Ability to work under limited, general supervision and exercise independent judgment.
  • Excellent communications, planning and organization skills, and fosters good working relationships with peers and colleagues.
  • Proficient with MS Office, Project and SharePoint.

Required, Capabilities, Experience and Degree Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferable with business focus) required, MBA preferred
  • Experience speaking to external stakeholders (customers, suppliers) preferred.
  • Previous Program or Project Management experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of working knowledge experience in Procurement or HVAC environment
  • Able to travel globally (approximately 25% Travel)
  • Strong communication skills - written and oral
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
