Summary

The Commercial Manager Sales is the point of contact and representative for all commercial and contractual matters relating to the project internally and externally. He/she ensures the proper implementation of all commercial aspects of the project (from beginning sales proposal and quoting phases through completion of the project), maintains a commercial overview of the project, ensures a successful outcome of commercial negotiations, and coordinates critical subject matter of the contract with the functional departments (legal, accounting, tax etc.) and the Project Manager.

What you'll do

  • Direct and coordinate commercial activities throughout the project lifecycle. Including the implementation of all commercial issues/tasks leading up to and during the project process, with regard to customer evaluation, project selection, project structure, costing, bid preparation, financing, and contract negotiation.
  • Ensuring consistent risk prevention in all commercial as well as inter-disciplinary matters during the bid phase until the signing of the contract.
  • Managing relationships with customers, local companies, representatives and partners.
  • Implementing all activities in connection with the legal and commercial framework conditions.
  • Coordinating, harmonizing the technical and commercial subject matter of the contract.
  • Commercial pricing requirements in consultation with all relevant departments.
  • Provides insight into the final bid cost estimate.
  • Ensures complete and comprehensive communication on all commercial and legal matters in the project.
  • Participates in the price strategy and price sheet in cooperation with the Project Manager and Project Owner Sales.
  • Ensuring compliance with project management standards and all requirements of the applicable Project Management Guidelines of the SMS group.
  • Commercial order handling responsibilities for:
    • Risk and opportunity management
    • Contract and claim management
    • Completion of all commercial and financial related matters
    • Ensuring the accuracy of cost and pricing calculations
    • Performing requirements for month end reporting activities
    • Preparing monthly project status meetings
    • Participation in the proposal phase of a project - reviewing the price and cost calculation, tax implications, as well as customer terms and conditions
    • Managing the customer's requirements (timely invoicing etc.)

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a similar field is preferred. An Associate Degree, in a business field, combined with a paralegal certification will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a role dealing with contract administration, as either a Commercial Project Manager, Contract Manager, or closely related position, is required.
  • Thorough understanding of contract language and the ability to negotiate, interpret, and carry out contract terms is required.
  • Knowledge of project controlling, accounting, finance and contract management is required.
  • Strong financial analysis ability and experience is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, is required.
  • Experience in international business is preferred.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Strong ability to communicate and exercise effective interpersonal skills is necessary.
