About the Job

Business Operations is a team responsible for leading, planning and executing operational readiness and change management activities in support of key improvement initiatives across the company.  The improvement efforts range from new market launches to new product launches and feature enhancements to work done to improve efficiencies and drive company growth and profitability.  This function will be the key interface between all of the Operations functions and business partners in Product, Engineering, Marketing, Legal, Finance and the Regions.

This role reports to the Senior Manager, Program Management, in a team that is project-based and task-organized against priorities and needs of the business. This means that the manager role has the potential to be a high level individual contributor position working some of the most complex and important initiatives in the company as well as to be a people manager responsible for developing and supporting the execution of more junior project and process analysts on a high volume of routine change projects. 

This role will be responsible for implementation and ongoing execution of a Project Management Office (PMO). This office will provide intake for all new approved projects and provide ongoing visibility to status, resource utilization, decision support and issue management. In this way, the PMO will define the standards for how project work is done and the mechanism for accountability to projects achieving goal outcomes.  Similarly, this role will help define the change and operational readiness process that is consistently followed to ensure that all launches are executed well and monitored for impacts after go live. Lastly, this role will lead process management efforts to ensure the work done in Operations is properly designed and executed to produce consistent results while also supporting a continuous improvement culture and mindset.

Responsibilities:
  • 5+ years of diverse and progressively expanding project leadership experience, with preference for candidates who have had this experience at a technology companies including marketplaces, gigE, or eCommerce 
  • A strong process-orientation:  No tolerance for inefficiency, inconsistency or confusion across the team. Experience adhering to, and innovating on existing processes to increase efficiency
  • Proficient in executing full project management plans, processes and related documentation
  • Ability to handle multiple projects or one larger project, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedule to ensure timely completion of project
  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise   
  • Orientation in data and analytical skills with a high degree of comfort in leveraging data from BI platforms (Looker) in order to evaluate root causes and opportunities and present findings to audiences including senior executives
  • Inspirational leader:  a track record for being a strong manager - whether direct or indirect reports - capable of getting a large, disparate group of people on the same page working towards a common goal
  • Innovative in approach:  You can adapt your experience and approach to the nuances of our business and identify new, untested ways of getting things done
  • Ability to represent the needs of Operations in cross functional and executive level leadership meetings
  • Highly effective in cross-functional environments capable of synthesizing competing viewpoints and priorities - that you may not be expert in - in order to come to decisions and a planned course of action
  • Ability to design, deploy, and manage robust processes that maintain team efficiency, quality and culture while scaling with the business
  • Front-line experience working directly with customers or as a customer service agent is a significant plus.

Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, CIS, Applied Mathematics or Statistics or comparable demonstrated work experience
  • Significant prior experience in project and/or operational or CS roles in the technology industry
  • Project Management certification (PMP, Prince2, Agile, Scrum, or similar) preferred
  • Six Sigma training or certification (green belt or higher) or related experience preferred
  • Expert Skill Level in Microsoft Excel (visualizations, pivot tables, array formulas, macros, etc - Bonus if proficient in Looker, Good Data and/or SQL)
