Job Description

Responsible for supporting new product development objectives through clinical data analytics and data science, under minimal supervision. This responsibility includes interpreting/communicating results. This role will be responsible for the technical and professional growth of the engineering team that they lead.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for development and delivering advanced machine learning algorithms.
  • Manages the team activities from data access, data wrangling and structuring, developing exploratory algorithm, deploying models and model interpretation and visualization
  • Coordinate and monitor day-to-day tasks and workflows of the project team
  • Identify, gather, and process datasets necessary for projects
  • Provides and maintains documentation on best practices in MLOP
  • Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions for data projects.
  • Oversee project operations, including planning, progress monitoring, and, if necessary, resolution of issues that may affect the timely delivery of the project.
  • Coordinate project timeframes.
  • Develops technical skills and directs the professional growth of an engineering team.
  • Prepares clear, complete and accurate technical engineering documentation.
  • Collaborates with and provides technical support to other departments (e.g., R&D, Regulatory, Marketing, Sales) and external customers.
  • Anticipating technological, technical, ethical, and financial risks of the project
  • Ensuring the quality and accuracy of the data used

Requirements

  • Proficiency in engineering project management.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as relational databases, SQL query tools, spreadsheets, data visualization tools, etc.
  • Experience in collecting, managing, and leveraging large amounts of data.
  • Knowledge of programming languages, such as Python, R, and C++.
  • Knowledge of advanced data analytics including statistics, machine learning, predictive analytics, and data modeling.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead people to achieve results.
  • Strong technical writing skills with ability to communicate results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful problem solver, with effective organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience

  • MS or PhD in engineering or sciences particularly computer/data sciences, mathematics, or statistics
  • 6-8 years of medical device industry or research experience in orthopaedic field, preferably spine.
  • 2+ years supervisory and project management experience required.

Salary Range

Alphatec Spine, Inc. complies with state and federal wage and hour laws and compensation depends upon candidate's qualifications, education, skill set, years of experience, and internal equity. $140,000 to $170,000 Full-Time Annual Salary
