Job Description
The primary focus of this position will be project management to support the standards activities critical to Rockwell Automation strategic initiatives. Exposure to standards work may occur within the context of international and regional standards organizations such as the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), ISO (International Organization for Standardization, or CENELEC and/or other industry and technology consortia. The core function will be:
The project manager will work closely with the Manager of Global Product Standards and Regulations to assist with tracking and analysis of internal standards activities. The secondary activity will be engaging in international and regional standards development activities commensurate with experience.
Global Product Standards and Regulations (GPSR) actively monitors and, where possible, influences the development and implementation of domestic and international Standards & Regulations, communicates the relevant information to the internal stakeholders in a timely manner, and partners with them to develop actionable goals designed to provide optimal market access and mitigate impact to Rockwell Automation. GPSR is dedicated to serving as Rockwell Automation's primary recognized partner and resource for new and emerging local, regional and international standards and regulations.
This role reports to the Manager, Global Product Standards and Regulations (GPSR) and is located in Milwaukee, WI (Rockwell Automation Global Headquarters. Rockwell Automation offers hybrid working options, Specific requirements can be discussed. Travel, including international opportunities, based on role responsibilities may be required up to 25% of time. Rockwell Automation offers hybrid working options. - Risk assessment and prioritization of activities, and
- Analysis of resource allocation.

What you will do
- Prioritization of Standards and Regulations activities based on risk and impact to the organization.
- Leading and coordinating projects to support activities with respect to Rockwell Automation's Standards and Regulations activities.
- Assisting in developing a communications strategy to the internal stakeholders of important external activities in Product Standards, Product Regulations, and Product Compliance that will impact their product offerings.
- Networking with internal stakeholders to develop and implement a GPSR strategy. Identifying which major external policy setting bodies will directly impact Rockwell Automation, and which ones should be actively participated in.
- Supporting participation on identified high impact bodies and activities and coordinating activities with other regional GPSR Project Managers and the internal business unit stakeholders.
- Researches and monitors new and ongoing standards development organizations, consortia, and regulation activities to communicating their relevance to Rockwell Automation's business.
- Identifies key stakeholders within Rockwell Automation's business units to determine the importance and impact of the different standards and regulations on Rockwell Automation's products and business.
- Tracking and documenting activities with others who participate in standards to help ensure sufficient coverage and prevent overlap.
- Develop skills necessary for participation in relevant standards groups.
- Support standards development activities where required.
- Builds and maintains professional contacts within other key organizations both within and outside the company to identify areas of common interest.
- Actively participates in professional organizations representing the company. Is encouraged to seek positions representing national interests within regional and international organizations in line with business objectives and approved by the internal stakeholders and leadership.
- Conducts formal and informal internal educational activities as appropriate. Develops training materials for Standards and Regulations within the focus area or region.
Basic qualifications
- Undergraduate Degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Undergraduate degree is Engineering, Business, Economics, Political Science, International Studies, or related field.
- Project management training or suitable experience.
- PMP or other PM Certifications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Knowledge and understanding of the various standards and regulations bodies and their processes is a plus.
- Experience working with government agencies or commercial experience in sales and marketing is desirable.
- An understanding of Standards and Regulations and the associated organizations both international and domestic is preferred.
- Past participation in standards groups and standards development is desirable.
- Knowledge of Rockwell Automation's products and associated businesses.
- Knowledge of competitive products and offerings.
- Foreign language abilities preferred.
