WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Project Manager II for our Miami Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) project in Miami, Florida office. Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) approved the issuance of a $1.2 billion General Obligation Bond for renovating facilities, updating technology, building school replacements, expanding student capacity and enhancing facility safety. Our staff will be tasked to maintain a rollout schedule that will see every school in Miami-Dade County improved, helping ensure a safe and beneficial future learning environment for students. Scope of Services may include land acquisition assistance; assistance with the selection of design and construction professionals; planning, coordination, administration and management oversight of projects and other related services.

Your Impact

• Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and reports the project management activities of multiple project teams with regard to educational facilities.
• Manages a broad range of activities associated with pre-design design, pre-construction, construction (including all phasing), closeout, occupancy and warranty enforcement for multiple complex and multi-faceted new construction, renovations and modernization projects.
• Coordinates/manages all aspects of project activities with region center administrators, school principals and central administration personnel. Serves as project contact and liaison on all matters related to project design and construction.
• Conducts post occupancy evaluations for completed capital projects
• Assumes responsibility for management of multiple projects in varying phases of design/construction.
• Provides technical assistance and support to design professional project managers, educational planners, advance planners and educational specialists
• Resolves questions and concerns related to M-DCPS land use and construction requirements
• Develops and maintains M-DCPS Prototype Educational Specifications and coordinates with Design Criteria, Master Specifications, Facilities lists and Master FF&E lists
• Meets with M-DCPS Educational Specialists and other MDCPS departments to determine specific needs of each educational space, which shall be reflected in the prototype educational specifications
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, urban planning, construction management, or a related field
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project/construction management of commercial and/or public facilities
• Demonstrated knowledge of Federal, State and Local codes and regulations governing the planning, design and construction of public school facilities
• Knowledge in evaluating and planning space for educational adequacy
• Knowledge and experience in reading and interpreting architectural drawings and specifications
• Knowledge of the roles and functions of educators, planner and architects in the educational programming, design and construction process
• Strong management and communication skills required
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in educational facility construction
• Negotiating skills
