Job Description
SUMMARY: Responsible for working collaboratively with department managers across banking divisions to implement projects / programs that help deliver business value, meet financial revenue, operating efficiency and strategic goals, as well as regulatory requirements. Creates and maintains project plans, monitors progress for multiple projects, acts as liaison between IT and various divisions to prepare presentations for management. Keeps all stakeholders informed of developments on the projects he/she manages. Executes projects covering the full range of the project life cycle -- scope definition, requirements gathering, development, testing, implementation, and monitoring and control. Coordinates test plans to meet project requirements and helps drive user acceptance testing to produce quality deliverables.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
- Project Management Execution (25%)
- Provide both strategic and detailed support to Portfolio/Program Managers on significant projects and initiatives.
- Analyze project proposals to determine timeframe, funding limitations and appropriate process for accomplishing projects.
- Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones and required activities and tasks, collaborate with project staff to outline work plan.
- Coordinate project scope and execution as a leader of a cross-functional, multidisciplinary team. Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget.
- Complete the established BankUnited project management process to identify, analyze and implement the new solution.
- Proactively identify and plan for potential risk, build contingency plans, and take action to mitigate risks.
- Manage external vendors through the project process to ensure agreement deliverables are met. Monitor project activities, ensuring the currency, quality and integrity of the information, while providing consistency in content and "look and feel" across the enterprise.
- Ensure that project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives. Deliver projects according to agreed specifications and deadlines.
- Ensure proper transition of the new solution or service to business users and IT application support.
- Project Governance (25%)
- Prepare project artifacts as required by the Project Management Office Standard Operating Procedures to ensure satisfactory internal and external audits. Ensure timeliness of document approvals by stakeholders and accessibility of project artifacts on the project's SharePoint site.
- Perform regular health checks of project QA checklists. Ensure scheduling of key tollgates: planning, risk assessment, UAT kickoff, go/no-go meetings. Ensure acceptance criteria are met prior to go-live. Monitor for proper change management of scope, budget, and schedule.
- Identify and share best practices in support of the PM Competency Center. Continuously benchmark project management performance to identify improvements and achieve higher capability maturity in Project Portfolio Management (PPM).
- Properly Manage Stakeholder Relationships (20%)
- Implement the project's communication plan. Follows through on procedures for project reporting and documentation to keep management informed of project status and related issues. Establish project status meetings at the project team and Steering level as appropriate.
- Identify, track, and coordinate resolution of issues. Initiate appropriate escalation procedures to ensure management awareness of problems that are severe in nature or exceeding documented targets.
- Teamwork and Leadership Skills (15%)
- Demonstrate ability to guide focused diverse groups to specified goals. Provide leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure project participants maintain focus, motivation and execution.
- Recommend the resources, skill and training needs for the project team members.
- Coordinate and communicate the expectations, assignments, status and plan with the project team.
- Maintain active and effective relationships with business users and technology resources.
- Industry Knowledge and Project Management Skills (15%)
- Develop and maintain appropriate banking industry knowledge of common financial services concepts, practices and procedures.
- Develop and maintain of project management concepts, practices and procedures; and knowledge of business analysis tools and techniques. Obtain and maintain certifications.
- Act in an advisory capacity in solution design to ensure high quality deliverables.
- Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
- Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
- Identifies and reports suspicious activity.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree or comparable experience in Information Systems, Computer Science and/or Engineering with the appropriate emphasis in Project Management required
EXPERIENCE
- Extensive experience managing projects in multiple phases of the project lifecycle using Waterfall and Agile methodology required
- Extensive experience with complex IT systems with significant levels of integration and interdependence required
- 4-6 Years of Project Management experience with a focus on complex, multi-department implementations required

- Strong background in project management concepts and methodologies.
- Understanding of software development lifecycles and methodologies.
- Ability to operate at both the strategic and functional level to manage project expectations, perceptions, deliverables and resources.
- Structured, disciplined approach to capturing requirements, identifying and resolving issues, and managing project activities.
- Ability to effectively interact with senior management levels of business and technology personnel, including management and end users, providing guidance, support and detailed documentation.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and execution skills

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- PMP or equivalent experience required
- Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
- CSM or PSPO certification preferred preferred
