What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a self-motivated Weapon System Project Manager to join the Sandia National Labs Production Authority (SNL-PA) team supporting the B61-12, W88Alt370, and Mk-21 programs. The successful candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced, high-rigor environment of vital importance to the entire Nuclear Deterrent Enterprise. This role requires experience and knowledge with the following responsibilities including project planning, forecasting, risk management, issue handling, and PM integration. This person will work closely and directly with SNL engineers, managers, and federal stakeholders to ensure the SNL-PA mission is performing to meet required delivery and funding requirements. The successful candidate will be expected to use their experience and judgement to ensure that accurate information is provided to SNL and federal decision makers.
This person will provide leadership regarding all programmatic activities, ensuring the day-to-day monitoring and controlling of their SNL-PA Weapon Programs through internal and external reporting, estimate to complete (ETC) and funding management, and analysis and management of programmatic health. In addition, the Weapon System Project Manager works with Weapon Program Teams to ensure alignment to all Federal Program Office (FPO) requirements and expectations.

On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Provide leadership to Weapon Project Controllers, Integrated Planners, and component line PRTs in the execution of programmatic activities-driving accountability and high-quality deliverables.
- Deliverables should include but are not limited to cost, schedule, risk, and scope analysis and associated dependencies.
- Hold and maintain an active role in analyzing and understand monthly variances and current status of all components within assigned weapon systems.
- Determine and develop project artifacts and methodology to drive project decisions.
- Project details to be completed by others (BMP, PC, BA, Technical Project Leads, Technical Partners, etc).
- Create integrated project forecasting and recommendations to allow for proactive management.
- Distill project data from various subject areas to drive risk-informed project decisions with actionable information and recommendations.
- Maintain and apply standard and repeatable PM processes that are in alignment with the PPDS and in accordance with customer needs/requirements.
- Actively participate in the development and implementation of approved changes as governed by the SNL-PA change control process.
- Be responsible for the accurate reporting of your Weapon Program funding needs and projections as a function of the SNL-PA leveraged business model.
- Be responsible for the accurate reporting of component delivery status as a function of required quantities and need dates.
- Be responsible for timely monthly deliverables, including: reports, presentations, ad hoc requests.
- Be responsible for leading large programmatic efforts, including: Weapon Design Cost Report (WDCR), Integrated Baseline Reviews (IBR's), Baseline Cost Reports (BCR's), major re-programming efforts, partnering with other members of SNL-PA in activity execution.
- Be responsible for the coordination, execution, and completion of any assessment or audit activities in partnership with applicable SNL-PA team members.
- Ensure that programmatic processes and procedures meet external weapon system requirements.
- Apply comprehensive understanding of the SNL-PA's business model to assess all changes to the integrated component schedules and communicating impacts to SNL-PA management.
Qualifications We Require
- Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline plus five or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Experience with Primavera P6 and Earned Value Management systems and processes.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire
- Knowledge of the Nuclear Deterrence Mission and Modernization Programs.
- Experience partnering with external customers such as the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and/or the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC).
- Ability to coordinate and team internally and externally to successfully deliver requirements, respond to requests, and create a cohesive environment.
- Effective written and verbal communications skills.
- Technical background or ability/willingness to gain an understanding of the technical scope.
