 What You Will Contribute to Altos
The Manager / Sr. Manager SDI Research Operations role is a key position in the Institute of Science, in San Diego overseeing projects and activities necessary for the effective and efficient day-to-day functioning of the Institute. This position reports to the SDI Chief of Staff.
Key Accountabilities
- Act as an advocate for and helps develop and introduce new processes, procedures, and technologies, within SDI
- Demonstrated ability to effectively engage stakeholders including senior leaders across SDI on projects as assigned by the manager
- Assist in recommending, developing, and implementing new research operations processes and practices
- Partner with finance, Procurement, and others on effective external vendor management practices/processes such as contract management, invoice management, NDAs, etc.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to listen and respond with agility and resilience in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to identify, design, and develop processes and practices to support research operations for the Institute of Science, in San Diego as assigned by the manager
- Facilitate and lead meetings with SDI and cross Alto's stakeholders, lead events, workshops, and meeting management ( take meeting minutes, identify action items, and meeting follow-ups)
- Support and be an advocate for a positive and productive culture at SDI
- Gather, compile and prepare reports as assigned by CSA or Institute Director
- Schedule and coordinate SDI employee meetings, seminars, and events as assigned
- Manage travel and expense reporting for Institute Director and others as assigned
- In partnership with the CSA oversees general office communications and announcements
- Effectively manage multiple priorities while supporting daily operations
- Work independently on special assignments, processing and handling of confidential documents, and other administrative duties as assigned by the manager
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of prior relevant experience OR in absence of a degree, 7+years of relevant experience are preferred
- Proficient in utilizing Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Attention to detail is critical
- Experience working in a lab environment or research Institute is a plus
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience interacting with senior leaders
- Demonstrated track record dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering measurable results
- Strong problem-solving skills – ability to assess a problem and determine an effective course of action with a sustainable solution
The salary range for this position at Project Manager level is $103,700 - $140,300.
The salary range for this position at Senior Project Manager level is $128,350 - $173,650
