SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Project Manager is responsible for accomplishing project objectives by planning and evaluating project activities. The role requires regular analytical and metrics-based reporting to other staff, board members, and stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Build strong relationships within Amtrak to understand the business challenges and opportunities.
• Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
• Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
• Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
• Ensure resource availability and allocation
• Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
• Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
• Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
• Report and escalate to management as needed
• Successfully manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
• Perform risk management to minimize project risks
• Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
• Identify and evaluate project risks and take appropriate action to control the risks
• Support the creation of project management best practices, tools, and ways for Amtrak to drive efficiency in order to reduce costs and add value.
• Adheres to Amtrak Enterprise Project Management methodology.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong project management skills
• Strong focus on collaboration, team building, and customer service
• Effectiveness working diplomatically across teams with varying objectives.
• Strong oral and written communication skills across all levels
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project),
• Bachelor's degree.
• PMP (Must be willing to obtain within 12 months of date of hire)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree required OR equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 3-6 years of relevant experience preferred

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

The salary/hourly range is $80,580 - $104,430. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
