Job Description
AECOM has a position available for a Project Pipeline Engineer to support our pipelines group within the Energy practice Engineering Center of Excellence. For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States.
The successful candidate will have an understanding and experience in pipeline engineering design principles. She/he will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. He/she will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done with an excellent attention to detail.
The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following:
- Candidate will produce the engineering required for projects including FERC and non-regulated pipelines, compressor stations, and pump stations.
- Creation and maintenance of cost estimates and schedules for assigned portions of pipeline projects.
- Manage junior and staff level engineering and design professionals.
- Client and sub-contractor interface during project life cycles including survey and geotechnical sub-contractors.
- Creation of hydrostatic test plans, pipeline integrity test plans, equipment and material specification and selection.
- Assist in pipeline route selection including route analysis, crossing selection and design, alignment sheets creation, HDD calculations and design, class location documentation, hydraulic analysis and modeling.
- Pipe Specification development including Evaluation to conformance with DOT 49CFR 192 and 195, and appropriate ANSI standards, pipe sizing, weld spec, hydraulic analysis, and coating specification.
- Valves and equipment specification, tank and vessel specification and design, launcher/receiver design and specification, pump, compressors and skid mounted systems specification, vendor qualification.
- Creation of PFD - P&ID's for facilities or processes.
- Coordination and management of design documentation and procurement processes.
- Constructability review and management including understanding of construction workspace.
- Design of pump and compressor stations.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree (Civil or Mechanical engineering preferred) from an ABET accredited college or university.
- 8 years of experience engineering transmission oil, gas and products pipeline, meter station design and pipeline construction projects in midstream/pipeline industry

- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience preferred
- Experience in detailed design of gas compressor stations, liquid pump stations, bid documents preparation and FERC Filings
- Strong written and verbal skills with an ability to lead engineering tasks
- Proficient in Synergi Pipeline Simulator
- Experience in large diameter, cross country pipeline experience in North America
- Experience in local, state and/or United States federal permitting
- Minimum 3 years as technical project lead (responsible for schedules and budgets)
- Experience in design and construction of Horizontal Directional Drills (HDDs)
- Experience in pipeline hydraulics and steady state simulation
- Must have working knowledge of codes and standards for gas and/or liquid pipelines including CFR 49, Part 192 & 195, ASME 31.4 & 31.8
- Experience in future fuels (e.g., Hydrogen) and carbon capture pipeline infrastructure
- Relocation is not available for this position
