Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized project scheduler to implement and oversee project schedules. In this role, you will be collaborating with project managers, defining and sequencing tasks, and monitoring the execution of project timelines. You may also prepare project progress and status reports and assist project managers with administrative responsibilities associated with software implementations in the healthcare setting.
The ideal candidate for this role will be an expert in the use of scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project and highly proficient in the generation of progress reports.ย The position will require interaction with both the GHX software implementation team, 3rd party consultants with whom GHX work needs to be integrated, and with the customer and their respective teams. Being onsite at the customerโs location in Durham, North Carolina, is required in order to maintain an accurate picture of the status of the work.
To ensure success, project schedulers should possess solid industry knowledge and demonstrable experience in project scheduling. A highly effective and proficient project scheduler will be someone whose expertise promotes predictable and successful software implementations.
Principle duties and responsibilities:
- Organize, implement and maintain scheduling management system supporting identified projects and their plans.
- Assist in designing and developing project schedules including setting up tasks and sub tasks, task sequencing and scheduling logic, and build the necessary framework to maintain progress to plan.
- Maintain task durations and update progress in the scheduling application daily.
- Log all new information into scheduling application and provide identified reports needed for coordination, forward planning and risk mitigation.
- Interact with customer and project staff to schedule work and coordinate assignments.
- Evaluate project schedule progress and performance and identify developing problem areas.
- Analyze critical path and constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend work-around.
- Develop and update weekly short interval schedule working with project managers, integration engineers and implementation consultants.
- Suggest management of risks affecting project profit, costs, schedule and quality.
- Support project management team to maintain timely and effective change management processes, procedures and systems.
- Assist project team to develop and maintain periodic status reports to keep management informed on project progress.
- Conduct analysis to determine alternative courses of action or recovery on slipped schedules.
Required Skills:
- 2 or more years of college level experience, associate degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience designing and developing project schedules (including setting up tasks and sub tasks, task sequencing and scheduling logic, and building the necessary framework to maintain progress to plan) in MS Project.
- Expert knowledge of MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint. This would be demonstrated by having demonstrated these skills on a number of large, multi-threaded projects in Construction, Healthcare or Information Technology.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Solid analytical and qualitative reasoning skills.
- Ability to multi-task and self-motivated to learn new technology.
Preferred Skills:
- Healthcare technology implementation experience a plus.
