Role Overview

Boom Supersonic is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to provide engine to aircraft integration support for the Propulsion Integrated PowerPlant System (IPPS) team. A strong background and expertise in integration of commercial aircraft powerplant systems. The selected candidate will work closely with other internal engineering teams and engine OEM partner to integrate the engine and associate components within the aircraft

Responsibilities
  • Provides technical expertise in system and sub system integration requirements development for aircraft engine program
  • Provide expert level guidance on integration of the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system, sub-systems and the aircraft
  • Lead the resolution of integration challenges of difficult and complex scope, ensuring a balanced system solution that is aligned with program schedule milestones meets cost and weight goals
  • Collaborate with Engine OEM partner to optimize integration solution for engine externals and line replaceable accessories
  • Provides integration, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to ensure system compatibility
  • Works under general supervision and regularly collaborates with other technical contributors
Qualifications
  • A relevant bachelor’s or master's degree (e.g. in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or Computer Science)
  • 15+ years experience in requirements engineering or systems engineering
  • Experience managing requirements on a complex, multi-tiered program.
  • Experience working with multi-disciplined stakeholders (engineering, manufacturing, program management, suppliers and senior leadership).
  • Excellent problem solving leadership skills; capable of solving hard, complex, ambiguous technical problems and capable of helping others do the same
  • Persuasive—must be able to win support of internal and external parties alike
  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to interface and communicate effectively with different groups and levels of leadership internally and externally 
  • Superb organizational skills and acute attention to detail
Highly Desirable
  • Experience working on aircraft development program(s) from concept development through certification
  • Experience with FAA Part 25 Certification 
Compensation

The Base Salary Range for this position is $153,000 - $207,000. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Boom’s total rewards package for employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives/equity, an open PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.

To conform to U.S. Government aerospace technology export regulations (ITAR and EAR), applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
