Propulsion Engineer I
Department Description:
The Propulsion Analysis engineers at Gulfstream provide both primary and supporting roles across a wide range of internal/external engineering departments for engine analysis and FAA certification level activities. Collaboration covers such disciplines as avionics, engine controls, environmental control, aircraft performance, flight test, as well as directly interfacing and providing the technical oversight of our engine company partners. Depending on the phase of the project, the Propulsion Engineer oversees the implementation of key engine performance requirements, provides engine analysis support for all aircraft affected subsystems, and provides Part 25 certification test support and results report definition and completion upon conclusion of the required tests.
Education Experience
- BS in aerospace/mechanical engineering possibly with a minor in computation/coding
- Knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics required
- Proficiency with MATLAB, PERL, LINUX scripting, C++ program languages needed. FORTRAN a plus.
- Familiarity with industry standard engine cycle modeling and parameters a plus
- Excellent English language skills
Job Description
- Entry level, 6-18 months previous experience a plus
- Perform required analyses in support of group goals and milestones
- Provide support for tool development and improvement to streamline group processes
- Using company procedures, applies engineering knowledge to resolve routine issues
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Engineering or related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Entry level. 0-18 months experience.
Position Purpose:
Performs engineering work related to the investigation and solution of basic problems associated with research, design, development, service and manufacture of Gulfstream aircraft.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Provides technical assistance to engineering staff and contributes by completing discrete engineering tasks on schedule .
- Using company procedures, applies engineering knowledge to resolve routine issues .
- Analyzes and evaluates results of project activities .
- Prepares recommendations for changes and compiles necessary reports for various department supervision .
- Recognizes discrepancies and/or problems with analysis/test results and works toward corrective action .
Additional Functions:
- Actively works to improve daily processes, and ensures all work meets customer requirements .
- Continues learning and developing knowledge of application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in assigned field of expertise .
Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements:
- The level of technical skills and abilities appropriate for this grade level will be established by each discipline.
- Work is closely supervised/monitored, follows established procedures and methods.
- Failure to achieve results may cause delays in program schedules.
- Ability to convey technical concepts in both written and verbal formats.
- Contacts are primarily with direct supervisor, mentor, and other exempt professionals in the group or department.
