We are building artificial gravity space stations to make this a reality. If you want to join a team that builds amazing things with the most talented people on Earth, please reach out.

Launcher is a Vast company that develops Orbiter (space tug and hosted payload platform) and the E-2 liquid rocket engine.

The Role
As a Propulsion Engineer, you will own all aspects of fluid systems design, development, qualification, and production support. In this role, you will utilize your strong technical knowledge of fluid dynamics as well as your ability to work with a wider team of specialists in the various subsystems to ensure maximum performance, reliability, and cost reduction are achieved consistently.
Responsibilities
    • Support build, test, and flight of fluid systems for Orbiter attitude control.
    • Perform and/or update detailed mechanical analysis on all the fluid system components/assemblies, and confirm that they meet the required standards for performance and system health requirements.
    • Own design of various fluid system components and overall routing/packaging.
    • Ensure that tolerances and clearances are taken into account during the design process.
    • Work with manufacturing and integration engineers to ensure fluid system integration is performed, and key sub-assemblies are manufactured correctly and efficiently.
    • Assist with determining root cause and corrective actions for failures or anomalies.
    • Support ongoing design, manufacturing, or reliability improvements for component production.
Basic Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
    • 1+ years of academic and/or professional experience related to fluid systems design, analysis, and development.
Preferred Skills and Experience
    • Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
    • Background in fluid systems design (CFD, stress analysis, HCF, LCF).
    • Hands-on experience with fluid system builds.
    • Experience with manufacturing and design of manufacturability.
    • Experience with thruster testing and design.
    • Understanding of thermodynamics, compressible and incompressible flow, thermochemistry mechanics, and/or materials.
    • Professional experience using Siemens NX (Unigraphics) and/or SolidWorks, and ANSYS is strongly preferred, Fluent or other comparable CFD packages also desirable.
    • Understanding of engineering fundamentals and the ability to perform basic analysis.
    • Great attitude in the face of extreme technical and schedule challenges.
    • Experience at a nimble engineering organization or in a highly technical position that required a scrappy, entrepreneurial manner to accomplish tasks with tight time or budget constraints.
    • Full engineering lifecycle experience (design trade, CAD design, prototyping, manufacturing, testing, qualification, production, reuse).
    • Demonstrated track record of excellent academic and professional achievement.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with both internal and external customers.
    • Ability to deliver against an aggressive schedule, without sacrificing safety or reliability.
ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
