Boom is seeking an Engine Cycle Principal Engineer.  As an engineer on the Integrated PowerPlant System (IPPS) team, you will support the design and analysis needs of supersonic engine cycle development. You will collaborate with internal and external customers as well as Engine OEM to define engine development study areas. This position will support a variety of departments performing engine analysis and integration activities.

• Lead engine system development from a performance, operability, and transient perspective to meet Overture aircraft mission objectives
• Collaborate with Engine OEM and provide oversight to engine cycle development activities 
• Coordinate with propulsion aero engineers to optimize overall engine cycle
• Provide the evaluation, verification, and validation of uninstalled and installed engine performance
• Interact with internal and external customers, assisting in defining engine system requirements and defining trade study areas
• Serve as the performance design subject matter expert for the IPPS design team

• A relevant bachelor’s or master's degree (e.g. in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or Computer Science)
• 15+ years experience in engine development and/or engine/aircraft integration.
• 5+ years of experience in gas turbine performance analysis
• Experience working with multi-disciplined stakeholders (engineering, manufacturing, program management, suppliers and senior leadership.)
• Excellent problem solving leadership skills; capable of solving hard, complex, ambiguous technical problems and capable of helping others do the same
• Excellent communication skills, the ability to interface and communicate effectively with different groups and levels of leadership internally and externally 
• Superb organizational skills and acute attention to detail

• Experience developing and analyzing engine cycles within an engine OEM
• Experience with modeling and simulation of physical engine systems using Numerical Propulsion System Simulation (NPSS)

The Base Salary Range for this position is $165,000 - $225,000. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Boom’s total rewards package for employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives/equity, an open PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
