Propulsion Test Engineer

This next-generation class of space vehicle will finally be able to provide high-frequency return of research, goods, supplies, and equipment that is critical for all future commercial activities and supply chains in space. With launch costs at an all-time low and dropping, now is the time to build these round-trip capabilities. Inversion has ambitious goals with strong financial backing to make this a reality.

• Plan, design, build, integrate, and propulsion and fluids test stands
• Develop and document test equipment, methods, and processes
• Coordinate with design engineers and technicians on test planning, operations, and analysis
• Perform post-test data analysis, formatting, and processing
• Conduct test readiness reviews

Future Growth Opportunities: 

• Build the tools and best practices for testing at Inversion.
• Build new test stands from clean sheet designs.
• Build standardized testing infrastructure across teams.
• Lead testing across Inversion. 

What It Takes: 

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering related field
• 3+ years of related experience in liquid propulsion development and qualification testing
• Safety first approach to processes
• Experience with the creation and review of complex P&IDs
• Understanding of fluid components and instrumentation including valves, regulators, PTs, temperature sensors, flow meters, load cells, and more
• Experience operating DAQ and Controls systems
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced start-up-like environment

What We’d Love:

• Experience with Python, FlexLogger, WinPlot, or other test softwares
• Capable of operating in high stress environments
• Capable of adapting to unforeseen circumstances; creatively problem solving to get a project over the finish line

Additional Requirements:

• Position will require working in a clean room environment and with flammables and explosives.
• Position may require extended work hours, weekend work.
• Position may require driving a company vehicle and traveling to test site.
• Position may require standing, bending, and working directly with hardware on the floor for extended periods of time.

• Our office headquarters is located in Torrance, CA.  All jobs require you to work onsite unless otherwise stated in the job description.
• If working remote is an option, other major metropolitan locations in the U.S. with relevance to the space industry may be possible.
• Travel may be required (up to 30%) for this role.
