The Role
The Prototype Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing new prototypes, tools, fixtures and parts for Moxion Power. The successful candidate will be able to translate ideas and concepts into functional prototypes as well as test them for feasibility and performance. They will work closely with the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering teams to ensure that the prototypes meet the required specifications and can be scaled up for production.
What You'll Do:
- Work closely with Engineers to understand product requirements and develop functional prototypes with the Prototype lab personnel.
- Use 2D and 3D modeling software to create digital designs and models of prototypes.
- Use various prototyping techniques to build, test, and iterate on prototypes, including 3D printing, CNC Machining and Fabrication shop tools.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure that prototypes meet required specifications and can be scaled up for production.
- Develop and maintain documentation for all prototypes, including design files and test results
- Assist in the procurement of necessary materials and equipment for prototype development.
- Troubleshoot and solve issues that arise during the prototyping process.
Skills to be Successful:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, product design, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in prototype design and development.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D modeling software, such as SolidWorks.
- Strong technical skills in prototyping techniques, such as 3D printing, CNC machining, welding, manual machining.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Pay Equity
Moxion is committed to the principle of pay equity – paying employees equitably for substantially similar work. Compensation displayed is a range. Maximum amounts are reserved for those candidates that exceed all experience and background requirements. We reserve the right to offer compensation based on level of experience. Moxion has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay within the San Francisco Bay area. If you live outside that region, the range is subject to change.
Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within the range provided above. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
