Provisioning Operations Systems Administrator

As an SRE of the Provisioning Operations team, you will work with a team responsible for the 24x7 support of mission-critical services and systems supporting Verisign’s internal and external customers. This role will initially be focused primarily on our non-production environments ensuring consistent practices and tooling between non-prod and productions environment. You will deploy and maintain our environments using Cloud Virtualization technologies such as OpenStack, Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform, and Configuration Management Tools such as Ansible, and SaltStack. 

Our ideal SRE candidate will have strong technical and organization skills, be able to thrive in a team environment, be able to work with other groups such as software developers to understand the software architecture from a high level and be a self-starter able to multi-task in this dynamic Operations group. 

Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain and configure quality assurance, staging, and production environments to support Verisign’s Provisioning services
• Document processes, procedures, configurations, and deployment plans
• Identify and improve application logging and monitoring
• Identify and address technical debt and ensure asset inventory is up to date and compliant
• Work across groups to develop informational dashboards and metrics
• Work across groups to contribute and improve automation code
• Work across groups to develop and improve system availability and monitoring

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience administering systems in a multi-datacenter OLTP production environment
• 6+ years of experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or equivalent UNIX (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and/or 8 preferred)
• Experience working with bare metal servers, RedHat deployment tools (Satellite, Kickstart)
• Experience with KVM deployment on physical hypervisors
• Experience with Docker and container deployment and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and/or Swarm at scale, with understanding and knowledge of service discovery, deployment practices, monitoring, logging, scheduling, and load balancing
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Splunk, Telegraf, or Grafana
• Experience with configuration management and deployment tools (Ansible preferred, and SaltStack)
• Experience with workflow ticketing systems (ServiceNow preferred)
• Experience with Atlassian Suite of tools such as JIRA and Confluence
• Knowledge and experience with Cloud Providers (OpenStack, AWS, or Azure
• Experience with Infrastructure Design/Architecture, Network Architecture (TCP/IP addressing, subnetting, CIDR notation), Security Groups, load balancers
• Experience using Version Control to manage code revisions, mainly Git (GitHub)Familiarity with the HashiCorp product suite, such as Consul, and Vault
• Experience with UNIX utilities and scripting (Perl, Python, Shell, Ruby, etc.)Ability to think outside of the box, identify gaps, and are passionate about offering solutions on how to improve areas that are deficient 

Preferred capabilities:

• Management of multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environments
• Experience with RDBS systems (PostgreSQL, Oracle), as well as scaling & redundancy solutions

 Education:

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering equivalent work code experience or related field or equivalent experience

If you live in CO, CA, NY, Washington State the annualized pay range for this role is $128,700 - $174,100.

The anticipated annualized base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
