Job Description

This position is responsible for supporting and engaging in the collection, verification and implementation of power system model changes to the Energy Management System (EMS) with focus on power system applications, including power flow, state estimation, contingency analysis, SCADA, communications and markets applications. Successful candidate will develop a detailed and in-depth knowledge of the New England transmission system and the reliability and market applications that use the power system model.

How you will make an impact

  • Provide Customer Service for users of application that contains power system equipment data used by a variety of ISO-NE real-time and offline study tools
  • Develop a deep understanding of the application, its interface and the data collected (e.g., transmission line data, transformer data, generator data) in order to advise and assist users with data requirements and data entry
  • Review and process data changes to power systems equipment (high voltage transmission lines, transformers, generators) provided by transmission and generation companies in the application
  • Ensure updated data is implemented in ISO-NE tools in a timely manner after updated data is reviewed and approved
  • Support seasonal data updates in affected ISO-NE tools
  • Support annual certification of application data by transmission and generation companies
  • Maintain the operating procedure that defines application data requirements
  • Identify and track application issues and needed enhancements and report to application vendor
  • Coordinate migration and complete testing of application software changes
  • Design, develop and implement modifications to EMS system models to reflect ongoing changes to the transmission, generation and SCADA systems

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, economics, mathematics, or other technical field. Associate degree and other fields of study considered with evidence of analytic ability and business acumen.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and presentation skills Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to review business requirements and communicate those to software vendors
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities

Desired not required

  • Experience with GE eTerraPlatform EMS environment or similar product
  • Detailed knowledge of the bulk power system, energy management systems
