Public Involvement Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and talented Public Involvement Specialist to join our firm in Indiana. In this role, you will work closely with our Public Outreach Manager and marketing team to support the implementation of public outreach strategies for various public and private sector infrastructure projects. In this position, the candidate will:
- Assist in the development of presentation materials, media releases, and other communication documents used for public communications.
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of public meetings, events, and other outreach activities.
- Collaborate with the marketing team and external vendors to create meeting documents, press releases, legal notices, website and social media content, and other public outreach materials.
- Assist in managing logistics for media events such as groundbreaking and ribbon-cutting ceremonies.
- Develop a thorough understanding of each assigned project to effectively develop messaging and support the Public Outreach Manager and Project Managers in public communication efforts.
- Participate in the preparation of quarterly or periodic project update presentations for clients and key stakeholders.
- Periodically travel for meetings or other public involvement events.Â
- May perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Communications, Journalism, Media Design, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 0-5+ years of experience in public relations, communications, media, or a similar role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with public speaking capabilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, website content management, and graphic design software is a plus.
- Interest or experience in public involvement, community engagement, or transportation environmental projects is highly desirable.
- A valid driver’s license.
